Happy 4th of July to all Jewish students, Hillel staff, and community members that celebrate! 🇺🇸 Jewish tradition includes a prayer for the government and those in public service roles, which recognizes that the well-being of the Jewish community is connected to the countries where we live. In celebration of July 4th, we are sharing the text of this prayer, and if it's meaningful for you, we encourage you to include it in your celebrations. "Our G-d and G-d of our ancestors: We ask your blessings for our country — for its government, for its leaders and advisors, and for all who exercise just and rightful authority." 📸: Hillel for Utah

Award-Winning Attorney & DEI Leader; CEO & General Counsel; former Biglaw Partner/Director - Government Contracts, Contract Compliance, Supplier & Workplace Diversity
My daddy was a Morehouse man. Although he wasn’t perfect, he had a keen intellect and was prolific in his speech and writing. Women loved him and so did my mother who married him after she graduated from Fisk University. Education and performance have always been important to me and my family. This convocation address by Reverend Dr. Howard-John Wesley was not just for Morehouse graduates years ago. It’s a life lesson now for everyone who is concerned about the unjustified attack in our nation on diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging. Diversity is important because it can lead to better outcomes in various aspects of life, fostering creativity, innovation, empathy, and social cohesion. It also helps to create a more just and inclusive society, where everyone - regardless of their individual circumstance (ie, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexuality and disability) - has an opportunity to succeed. In order for women, Blacks and others to succeed, it’s important that we have equal rights and opportunities. If you agree - have the courage to stand up and speak out against injustices in any way that you can. Like Rev. Wesley stated “Don’t let the experience of others set limitations on you”. These are challenging times for our nation. We need all hands on deck.⚫️ #education #morehouse #hbcu #dei #diversityequityinclusion #diversity #equity #equality #inclusion #accessibility #belonging #equalrights #equalopportunity #legalconsultants #attorneys #blackwomenentrepreneurs

James Forten's life is a shining example of courage and commitment, a reminder that each of us can be the unsung heroes of our time. Born free in Philadelphia in 1766, he stood up for justice even when the odds were stacked against him. As a young teen, he fought in the Revolutionary War and never gave in, even when captured by the British. He endured harsh conditions on a notorious prison ship but never lost hope. After the war, he became a successful sailmaker and a passionate opponent of slavery, using his resources to support the anti-slavery movement. He founded newspapers, organized protests, and provided a haven for Black sailors. James Forten's life shows us that ordinary people can make an extraordinary impact. So, let his story inspire you to be the unsung hero of our day, to stand up for what's right, and make a difference in the world. https://lnkd.in/gH7qtRhc Do you want to learn more about what you can do to act NOW! and save our Constitution. https://lnkd.in/g5PpPw7m Take your learning to the next level: ✍️Learn about historical events that shape our future. Ordained Minister at World Mission Agency (LIVING FAITH CHURCH WORLDWIDE a.k.a WINNERS' CHAPEL INTERNATIONAL)
Watch and share with other Christians... 👇 https://lnkd.in/eWEGjUNR YOU NEED THE CHURCH: ALWAYS BE THERE WHENEVER YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BE THERE! HEB. 10:25 Heb.10.25 - Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching. [AMP] and are left on our own to face the Judgment--and a mighty fierce judgment it will be! [MSB] Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. [KJV] Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. [NIV] And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near. [NLT] not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. [NKJV]

"This Jewish American Heritage Month, we honor Jewish Americans, who have never given up on the promise of our Nation. We celebrate the contributions, culture, and values that they have passed down from generation to generation and that have shaped who we are as Americans. We remember that the power lies within each of us to rise together against hate, to see each other as fellow human beings, and to ensure that the Jewish community is afforded the safety, security, and dignity they deserve as they continue to shine their light in America and around the world."
