SUSTAINABLE AGRIBUSINESS So last week I was privileged to be a participant at a roundtable powered by International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (#IITA) in collaboration with #TheKingdomOfNetherlands which was facilitated by #FarmHelpAgribusinessConsultLtd and #GreenDevelopmentAndAgroAlliedServices. During one of the sessions, participants shared their success stories, problems and challenges on the field, reasons for choosing their value chain and lot more. In the course of the discussion, I discovered many practicing farmers or #prospectivefarmers love to explore some value chain but because of their presumed waiting period and "one off" nature they lost interest. Take for instance, #Pineapple; some still carry the obsolete knowledge that it takes like forever before fruiting. Someone even said "how can someone wait 2-3years just to get a fruit" while some said it is time wasting and unprofitable. Today, Agribusiness has grown big and for any challenge you may have envisaged in any value chain either as a prospective or practicing Agripreneur, enormous research in Agribusiness has provided innovations and technologies (that you probably do not know) to address them.Farmers now grow #Sweet and #Nutritious pineapples using #ClimateFriendly techniques and harvest in the space of 12-18months thereafter you still have your rations for subsequent harvest. These innovations are also in other value chain in Agribusiness so get update, explore different value chain and let the world experience a sustainable development through you. 👀 As the world population grows, the importance of soil in ensuring food security cannot be understated. India is the largest producer of nitrogen-fixing indigenous crops like legumes and pulses that are excellent for conservation agriculture and sustainable farming practices. However, heavy dependence on resource-intensive crops like rice and wheat not only depletes the soil but also keeps us import-dependent to meet the domestic demand for pulses. 💡 Here’s where the real opportunity lies: Integrating these indigenous crops into innovative smart protein products can create a robust, revenue-generating value chain and incentivize farmers to embrace these climate-resilient crops. Study circle sessions in Batoka area association. Discussion: Crop residues, such as stalks, leaves, and husks, play a crucial role in sustainable farming. They can be left on the field as mulch, reducing soil erosion, retaining moisture, and enhancing soil fertility by decomposing and returning nutrients to the soil. Additionally, crop residues can be used as animal feed, providing a valuable source of nutrition for livestock. When managed properly, these residues also help in controlling weeds and reducing the need for chemical inputs. Overall, the effective use of crop residues on a farm boosts productivity, supports soil health, and contributes to environmental sustainability.

🌾 In what ways can farmers and cultivated meat producers collaborate? 🥩 The findings by the Royal Agricultural University illustrate the mutual benefits of fostering connections between the cultivated meat industry and agricultural communities. 🌱🔗 🌟 This is perfectly in line with the #BTrust Project’s goal of developing a governance model that enhances #biotech adoption through building consumer trust. The Yara Shujaa Knowledge Exchange, aims to inspire young farmers. Recently, three Kenyan farmers – Janet "Farm Girl" Toroitich, Rogers "Mr. Agriculture" Kirwa, and Ronald Diang’a – participated in the inaugural programme. How can farmers and cultivated meat companies work together? A new report published by the UK’s Royal Agricultural University highlights collaboration opportunities for farms and cultivated meat companies. The report comes as the result of a two-year study in which researchers partnered with nine UK farms to see what cultivated meat could mean for their businesses. While many farmers were cautious and sceptical of cultivated meat, the report revealed that this emerging technology was not considered to be a particularly pressing worry in the context of other urgent challenges facing farmers today. What is more, the researchers found that some farmers were interested in the opportunities created by cultivated meat, such as providing raw materials for the production process or leasing farm buildings to cultivated meat companies. The report demonstrates how building bridges between the cultivated meat sector and agricultural communities can offer benefits to both. Ini,As a layman in agricultural business and development let me congratulate you for this piece as I believe it will contribute to educating and informing those concerned to make the best use of it.Hiwever,my concern is how do you produce the adapted seeds in a quantity that will help in ensuring the wide spread requirements to distribute the seeds to meet the needs of the growers in the SSA areas where your activities will mainly focus.How do you preserve the seeds for cultivation of a wider area in subsequent periods so as to increase the benefits to the inhabitants of the SSA region?What strategic is being put in place to educate the local farmers so they can adopt the new seeding for their overall benefits.As noted earlier,this is just from a non-agricultural person’s view point.
