Please keep Haiti in your thoughts and prayers. The country is facing a complex and challenging situation, with political instability, economic hardship, and social unrest. The assassination of President Jovenel Moïse has only exacerbated these issues, leading to heightened tensions and a power vacuum. In addition, Haiti is grappling with a surge in gang violence, resulting in increased insecurity and displacement of civilians. The COVID-19 pandemic has also strained the country's healthcare system and economy, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities. Natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes have further compounded the challenges facing Haiti, causing widespread devastation and displacement. Humanitarian organizations are on the ground providing assistance and support, but the road to recovery remains long and arduous. Haiti needs national and international efforts to address these interconnected challenges effectively. Let's stand in solidarity with Haiti during this difficult time. #Haiti #PoliticalInstability #EconomicHardship #SocialUnrest #HumanitarianCrisis

As we gather to celebrate the joy of the holiday season, our hearts ache for those enduring the harsh realities of conflict and displacement. Countries across the globe continue to struggle with decades-long conflicts, economic turmoil, and the devastating effects of climate change. The guardrails that once prevented such crises from spiraling out of control—including peace treaties, humanitarian aid, and accountability for violations of international law—have been weakened or dismantled. Despite the complexities, our commitment to alleviating suffering remains unwavering. This festive season, let's extend our hands in support and solidarity to those affected by these conflicts and to refugees globally who seek safety and hope. Your donation to Andan Foundation can provide critical aid, shelter to refugees facing adversity globally. Your support helps us offer a beacon of hope amid these turbulent times. Wishing you a season filled with warmth, love, and the empowerment to make a difference. This season, gift hope! On June 20 for the "Standing in Solidarity" event, I had the privilege of introducing and closing a crucial discussion on displaced communities in #Burma, specifically in #Chin, #Karenni, and #Shan states. I aimed to highlight the pressing issue of Burma's expanding displacement community and their daily struggles. 🔘Since the 2021 coup, over 1.3 million refugees, 3 million IDPs, and 632,000 #stateless individuals have struggled amidst armed conflict and natural disasters like #CycloneMocha. In October 2023, conflict further escalated and worsened conditions, creating an urgent humanitarian crisis that demands our attention. The situation facing #IDPs and #refugees in Burma is dire. Many endure cramped living conditions, food and water shortages, and unsanitary environments, exacerbating their vulnerability. The international community must step up now with immediate humanitarian aid and policies that support these displaced communities. ______ 🎞️ Watch the full video to hear more from our insightful speakers working directly on the ground in Chin, Karenni, and Shan states, and join us in standing in solidarity with Burma's displaced communities: https://lnkd.in/dzDGDgxg

A difficult reality of humanitarian aid and development is that some of the most dire crises are overlooked, particularly when they are complex or protracted. As my colleague Lanre Williams-Ayedun asks, "How can we live with “neglect” being the word used to describe our collective response to the suffering of hundreds of millions of people?" Aiming to bring more attention to these crises, World Relief and other INTEGRAL ALLIANCE members have produced a new report called ‘Five Factors Driving Neglected Crises’ in which they examine some key drivers for what causes a crisis to become neglected. https://lnkd.in/gGpZ_pxM #neglectedcrises #keepeyesonSudan #massdisplacement #climateresilience

The ongoing armed conflicts in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have forced countless families to flee their homes, creating an immense humanitarian crisis. As violence continues, the needs of displaced populations grow more dire by the day. The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is on the ground, providing crucial aid and support to those affected, but the scale of the crisis requires a collective effort. We urgently need more resources to deliver life-saving assistance, including shelter, food, medical care, and clean water. We call on all members of the humanitarian community, partners, and concerned individuals to join us in responding to this urgent need. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who are most vulnerable. https://lnkd.in/d8MZN3rQ #HumanitarianAid #RedCross #RedCrescent #CRRDC #IFRC #HumanitarianCrisis_EasternDRC

3.6 million people in northwestern #Syria are food insecure. The humanitarian response to Syria remains alarmingly underfunded. Only 6 per cent of the required funding for 2024 has been received, which means humanitarian organizations can only reach 625,000 out of 3.6 million people to prevent them from falling into starvation. With support from Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and European Union, over the past year we provided cash assistance to more than 1,200 vulnerable families in 10 locations to help them feed their families and rebuild their lives after conflict and earthquakes. We are thankful to our partners for their support and urgently call on the international community to remember Syria and address the funding crisis. #HumanitarianAid #Syria #Azaz #crisis #humanitarianresponse #northwestsyria #foodinsecure

❗Urgent: Global conflicts have left thousands of innocent children homeless in Gaza. 80% of homes are damaged or destroyed, displacing 1.7 million people, half of which are children. ❗ 🏠 Our response team is in Egypt, collaborating with local organizations to expedite aid delivery to Gaza. Although getting aid into Gaza is unpredictable and delays are common, trucks filled with our aid are expected to cross the border over the coming days. We have contingency plans in place with our partners to make sure that our aid still reaches people who need it should there be a ground offensive in Rafah. In addition, we are working with partners in Jordan, including Rotary, to scale our response, and we have more aid on the move. We are using two separate aid routes into Gaza to get tents to people without shelter in the coming weeks. 🌟Your generosity allows us to expand our response to reach as many families as possible with emergency shelter. Please give if you can. https://lnkd.in/g7DSRReW #shelterboxusa #shelterchildren #shelteraid #emergencyresponse

📣 An update from Haiti: Early in the month, we met with Christian Aid's Global Humanitarian Manager for the Latin America and Caribbean regions, Wilson Fevrin. Wilson discussed the escalating humanitarian crisis in Haiti and the need for urgent intervention. The crisis in Haiti has deteriorated due to political tensions, economic instability, and social unrest. Political dissatisfaction, allegations of corruption, failure to and a two-year term extension for the Prime Minister has fuelled long-standing grievances among the general population. This has led to clashes between armed groups and security forces. 💬 'The recent violence caused by the armed groups in Port-au-Prince has led to the displacement of thousands of civilians. As a result, more than 15,000 people, many of whom were already displaced, have been forced to flee again'. Christian Aid are working with local partners to enable community-led responses to address the immediate needs. However, humanitarian support is being disrupted by the ongoing violence and there are safety concerns for aid workers and their families. 🙏 Let's continue to pray for peace and safety for our global neighbours in Haiti. We pray for wisdom and opportunity as they continue to push for funding for humanitarian assistance in these difficult circumstances. #Haiti #HumanitarianCrisis #Crisis #Update #Emergency
