At Photonics21 panel discussion, final remarks. Lutz Aschke answer to the question of what competitive advantage brings photonics was just great. Paraphrasing the answer, comes to say that competitiveness is brought by very hard work, and photonics is full of very hard working people who are also very resilient. Working to keep one of Europe’s jewels shining!

I ( Hauch Jens) spent the last two days at the PV-topic meeting of the Helmholtz Association hosted by Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin at the always amazing Bessy accelerator facility to discuss the status of the current PV-research agenda in Helmholtz and the future directions for PV in Germany and Europe. 👉 There is still plenty to discuss, but even the current achievments with several world records ( Silicon/Perovskite Tandem, OPV Module) are demonstrating how powerful the Helmholtz PV-program is. 👉 It is also clear that technology transfer will be an important part of the future directions and SolarTAP is the best example of how it can be done. 🙂 It was an amazing two days showing the relevance of the topics of SolarTAP and how important it is to strengthen the contacts with industry as well as the relevance of the printed PV-Technologies. In the room for the discussions were 4 highly cited researchers (Christoph Josef Brabec, Professor Michael Saliba, Thomas Kirchartz and Steve Albrecht) as well as many of the brightest people in the Helmholtz PV-Research: Bryce Richards, Uwe Rau, Rutger Schlatmann, Eva Unger, Ulrich W. Paetzold, Gerardo Hernandez Sosa, Alexander Colsmann, Susan Schorr, Christiane Becker, Thomas Unold, Klaus Lips, Bernd Stannowski, Marcus Bär, Kaining Ding, Jens Harting, Artem Musiienko.

#Events Our Photonic & Plasmonic Systems Group takes part in the 25th edition of the European Conference on Integrated Optics (ECIO) in Aachen. Sevag Abadian presents his poster, which is about "All Dielectric Integrable Optical Isolators". The following people worked on the project with him: Getúlio S. Souza Júnior, Stanislav Winkler, Marian Bogdan Sirbu, Michail (Michalis) Symeonidis and Tolga Tekin. Here you can find more about the group´s expertise: https://lnkd.in/e-aq72UP The 2024 European Conference on Integrated Optics focuses on leading edge research on integrated #optics, #optoelectronics and #nano-#photonics and gathers experts from academia and industry to show their latest technical results, and showcase their products and services. The application scope is broad and it ranges from tele/datacom communications, optical interconnects, and (bio) optical sensing applications to more disruptive areas as quantum computing and mid-IR photonics. The organisation of the conference is in hands of RWTH Aachen University, in collaboration with Max Plank for Mikrostructure Physics, Technical University of Berlin, Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik, and Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT). #ECIO2024

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 We're thrilled to announce that Stanislav Winkler from Fraunhofer IZM, Photonic & Plasmonic Systems Group will be presenting at the European Microwave Week 2024 in Paris, France, from September 22-27. His paper, titled "Analog Radio over Fiber Transmission of OTFS Modulated Signals," has been accepted for presentation. Make sure to read his abstract 📖 "Analog Radio over Fiber (ARoF) links distribute wireless signals via optical fiber to antennas, streamlining infrastructure for cost and power efficiency, which is why they will play in important role in next generation networks. Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation, using delay Doppler domain, creates robust wireless modulation that is beneficial especially for high-velocity receivers. This paper explores OTFS signal transport via RoF for 6 GHz microwave transmission with 400 MHz bandwidth, validated through lab tests and simulations. 💡
