The global automotive terminals and logistics provider have entered the Turkish market effective September 2024 through its branch Horizon Auto Logistics. Türkiye is a significant automotive player on a global scale, producing about 1.4M vehicles annually, making them the 12th largest auto manufacturer globally. The country exports more than 1M vehicles to international markets, which is about 70% of it’s total production. At the same time, about 350K autos are imported annually with annual sales of close to 1M autos. Says Per Folkesson, Group CEO; “We are excited to finally begin the expansion into Europe, the old continent. It’s the result of a few years of dedicated work and although Europe is a relatively mature market in terms of automotive logistics, the ever-evolving automotive industry and logistics landscape, coupled with our innovative operating model, makes us believe we have a bright future on the continent. Türkiye is well known to us, having worked on opportunities in this market in the past. With operations beginning already in September, we are now building the organizational foundation for future growth.” The company will initially operate in and focus on the 4PL & Control Tower space which greatly enhances customers’ ability to manage their supply chains in a cost-efficient manner, optimizing output and facilitating decision making to avoid disruptions. But also, in the port and terminal, and distribution sectors there are opportunities which is a good fit for the company’s operating model SYN3RGY360. Horizon Auto Logistics operates in 10 markets globally, employing 800 people and handling about 1.2M vehicles and equipment’s annually. It provides complete supply chain services for finished vehicles, which includes vessel cargo-handling, port operations, yard operations and distribution centers, VPC and EPC (technical) services, inland transportation, distribution management and plant logistics.
