We’ve got “Findng Your Voice” on April 11th - a half day workshop ideal for new managers/shift managers/supervisors. Having the confidence to manage those who were teammates yesterday on standards, customer experience and behaviour is pretty scary for new managers. Articulating your plan, (and your revised plans as the shift unfolds, inevitably!) is key to being a great team leader. This session focuses on the sweet spot between not communciating enough, and communicating too much, and gives skills in asking for what you want, and how to say ‘no’. It’s a steal at £90 (ex vat) per person. Why such good value? Because we want to open up management development for first time managers, in my opinion the most important layer to get right in hospo.
Stephen Waters and Philip Eeles created our “Manage Your Friends” series of workshops for new managers, particularly those stepping up from a waiter. We think this is one of the hardest steps to take in hospitality management because one day you are right there in it with your mates, and then the next day you’ve got to tell those ‘mates’ to do something differently, better, or not at all.
