This week is #NationalApprenticeshipWeek 2024, the 17th annual celebration of the value, benefits and opportunities that apprenticeships offer to individuals, businesses, and the wider economy. This year’s theme, “Skills for Life”, encourages people to consider how apprenticeships allow individuals to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to build a rewarding career, and aid businesses in developing their workforce’s skills to equip them for the future. To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, UKGI Learning Solutions have released a new course to support new entrants in developing skills and knowledge key to insurance broking: ⭐Insurance Broking- The Essentials!⭐ The insurance industry has long struggled to entice and retain new recruits to replenish a retiring workforce. It also needs to attract those with diverse skillsets and innovative approaches to aid the sector in navigating changes, such the proliferation of AI and technology. Apprenticeships have been invaluable, allowing fresh talent the opportunity to access the industry, gain the skills and knowledge needed to progress and providing a clear career path with continuous training opportunities, highlighting that a role in insurance is not just a job, but a profession which offers the prospect of ongoing progression and development. We are celebrating Apprenticeships by widening our offering to support and nurture both new entrants to the industry and existing employees looking to boost their skills and experience. The new ‘Insurance Broking- The Essentials’ course caters for those new to insurance broking and provides a key, foundational knowledge of; the role and its functions, the sale of insurance products and services to clients, legal features of the broker-client relationship, and conduct and culture within insurance broking. It also provides an outline of the eight core competencies set out by the FCA. #apprenticeships #insurancesector #insurancebroker #skillsforlife #training #NAW24

I'm thrilled to announce that I have officially joined Zurich Insurance on the Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship! 🎉 I would like to thank the Early Careers team at Zurich Insurance and of course all of the people who have guided and helped me to reach this far, you know who you are. The journey hasn't been easy, as I faced rejections at various stages throughout the degree apprenticeship process however, attending the Motivez application season session and absorbing the invaluable tips and advice from The Black Apprentice Network (BAN) and Outer Circle taught me a vital lesson: resilience is key. 💪 Each rejection I faced was not a setback but a re-direction towards a company that aligns perfectly with my values and skillset. To anyone aspiring to become a degree apprentice but facing rejection, here's my advice: 1. Stay Resilient: Rejections are not the end, but rather stepping stones guiding you towards the right opportunity. 2. Seek Support: Leverage resources like Motivez sessions and mentorship from apprenticeship communities e.g The Black Apprentice Network (BAN), Outer Circle 3. Prioritize Mental Health: The process can be taxing, so make sure to take care of your mental well-being. Stay positive, take breaks, and maintain a balanced lifestyle. I'm excited about this new chapter and the opportunity to contribute to the innovation at Zurich Insurance. Let's continue to push boundaries and create impactful solutions together! 🌟 #CareerJourney #Resilience #DegreeApprenticeship #ZurichInsurance #NewBeginnings

FSB Insurance Service teammate Laurence spills the tea on his apprenticeship in 10 Qs! ☕ 🌟 From choosing this path for learning and daily work joy to the sweet balance between study and saving for the future. 📚 💰 Dive into his journey and why being an apprentice rocks! 👊 Why did you choose an apprenticeship? The main reason I decided to do an apprenticeship was because I wanted to continue to learn and study but also enjoyed the aspect of working daily. How has the apprenticeship helped you academically and practically? Overall, the apprenticeship has helped me practically by having a structure to my days and weeks allowing me to get all tasks done and get all deadlines met. What made the apprenticeship a natural fit for you? The apprenticeship was a natural fit for me as I have always enjoyed working and have been since I was 17. However, I also wanted to continue to study and learn in a new area and develop my skills. How has the apprenticeship influenced your career path? It has influenced my career path in many ways as I am much more likely to continue in insurance due to the range of things to learn and enjoying the aspects of helping people daily. In what ways has the apprenticeship expanded your options beyond traditional trades? This has expanded my options as I mostly thought apprenticeships were in manual trades, but this option has allowed me to express my more academic side which has always been my stronger suit. How has your team supported you during the apprenticeship? My team has really helped me during my apprenticeship as they have always been available to help with any questions or queries I have while also helping with my workload when I have to spend time studying for exams. What differences do you find between academic learning and hands-on experience in your apprenticeship? The hands-on experience I believe is invaluable with the academic learning as it provides context to the learning and helps you have a stronger understanding of the academic study. What do you consider the pros of an apprenticeship? The main pro of being an apprentice is that you can learn and study still whilst also working and earning a wage and being able to save for the future. How do you balance working and studying in your apprenticeship? The main balance between my study and work has been very helpful as I am given a dedicated day every week for study, and this has helped me keep a solid balance with study and revision. What advice would you give to someone considering an apprenticeship or similar path? If someone was considering this path, I would always recommend them to look into it as it provides a strong alternative to university. This is due to me working better without just having to study and also having the ability to use the academic study daily helps to better consolidate my learning. #Apprenticeship #FutureLeaders #CareerJourney #NAW2024 #SkillsForLife #NationalApprenticeshipWeek
