bet365 has marked the beginning of the new National Football League (NFL) season with a brand new global marketing campaign, ‘Never Ordinary’ 🏈✨, featuring Aaron Paul 🌟. The Breaking Bad star features in a TV commercial where he spectates the sport of curling 🥌 and watches a seemingly average throw trigger a “cultural phenomenon” 🎉🙌 as people take to the streets to celebrate 🥳. While the ad itself is not directly National Football League (NFL) related 🚫🏈, the campaign is based upon the concept that “the bet365 experience is never ordinary” 🌟💫. Chloe Shrubb, Global Head of Brand Marketing at bet365, explained: “The in-game betting experience is something that bet365 has and always will excel at. I know I'm not the only one who’s excited for Netflix's first foray into live sports. Our friend Peter Naylor announced this week that the streamer will air a golf tournament featuring stars from its popular “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” racing show and “Full Swing” golf series competing in pairs, live from the Wynn Las Vegas, in November. I think this is a smart, low-risk way for Netflix to experiment with and build consumer and advertiser interest in live-streamed events. But we should keep our expectations reasonable -- EDO, Inc. data shows one-off events and daytime-only sports like golf typically deliver lower ad engagement rates than recurring franchise programming from the NFL or NBA (especially in primetime). So if Netflix and sponsors deem the event’s overall performance successful, then we hopefully will see even more live sports on the platform in the near future. As an added bonus, the #NetflixCup will take place in Las Vegas just days before the city’s first Formula 1 race in over 40 years.
