HR&A Advisors was thrilled to collaborate with Perkins Eastman and the National Capital Planning Commission on an initial vision to reconnect the Kennedy Center with a greener, more accessible D.C.     The proposed plan includes the reconfiguration and burying of highway and ramp infrastructure to make room for a new 27-acre park stretching from Virginia Avenue to the Lincoln Memorial that would connect the Kennedy Center to the National Mall. This monumental effort aims to revitalize the area, improve traffic flow, and create new, vibrant civic spaces.     As economic consultants on this initiative, HR&A supported the team’s modeling of the potential economic and fiscal benefits associated with the planned park and infrastructure improvements, including new investment in the surrounding neighborhood and increased property, sales, and income tax revenues to the District.    Stay tuned as we continue to work towards a more sustainable and connected future for our nation's capital! #UrbanPlanning #CommunityDevelopment #GreenSpaces

I worked on this plan 20 years ago. I think there have been several iterations since. Let’s hope this time it works.
