𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝘈 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘦… 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳. Here’s what those who are faced with a counter offer need to understand... Companies NEED to counter offer, not because “they were planning to promote you”, but because: 1. They lose a person and need to reassign work for at least 2 months. 2. Losing an employee disrupts project timelines and team dynamics. 3. They have to hire a recruiter (like me) and pay them a substantial fee. If you accept a counter offer: - Your company now knows you’re looking to leave, making you the first to go if trouble arises. - You burn bridges with the company you were interviewing with. Any recruiter could write a book about counter offers, but I'd love to hear more thoughts. Are you for or against them? Below is an article that goes more in depth:
