🐯 International Tiger Day & Some Interesting Facts 🐅
• Every year on July 29, the Whole world celebrates "International Tiger Day or Global Tiger Day". This unique day is dedicated to raising awareness for the conservation of Tigers. 🌏
• As per the standard resources, 100 years ago it was very easy to see the tiger in its natural habitat, because at that time around 1,00,000 of them roamed all over Asia, including several sub-species that are now extinct (3 out of 9). Today the number of tigers in the wild is only about 5,000, 📉 And it is sad reality that we humans are majorly responsible for this loss. Our Human activities like, Hunting and Habitat destruction was major factor that resulted into this tremendous decline in tiger's population. 🏹
• It's a very interesting fact that approximately 13,000 tigers are currently alive on earth, but only around 5,000 out of them are in the wild. 🏞
• Apart from that, the tiger has a very unique place among all other wild animals. Especially in India, It has its own cultural and religious importance and is also, considered as a National Animal. 🇮🇳
• It's kind of surprising to know that approximately 70% of Tigers on the whole earth are currently in India.🐾 Today, there are 54 tiger reserves across the India, spanning 75,000 sq km. The current population of tigers in the country stands at 3,167 as opposed to 1,411 in 2006, 1,706 in 2010 and 2,226 in 2014. It's around "6.74% increase" since 2018 which is really very positive point.📈 ✨
■ I think most of us are already aware of the celebration of International Tiger Day, but do you know the actual necessity of saving the Tigers and why it's really very important to save this species? Here, I have listed out few points stating the importance of tiger conservation;
1) Tigers and forests are deeply rooted together. They live, breed, and hunt in groves, and as apex predators, these majestic species are a sign of a healthy ecosystem. So, Saving tiger = Saving forests = Healthy Ecosystem.🌲🌳
2) As a top predator, tiger keeps the population of herbivores animals under control and limits the overexploitation of grasslands. 🐇🦒🦧🐘
3) Apart from it's ecological importance in nature, the tiger has its own Cultural, religious, and economic values for humans. Also, They are our National animal and most majestic in the whole animal kingdom. 👑
4) Last but not least, any ecosystem is the result of hundreds or thousands of years of evolution process. Microbes to mammals, each & every species has its unique vital role & interdependency for living. Therefore, Disturbance or destruction of any single species can affect the whole ecosystem, So not only Tiger but conservation of Whole nature & all animals is the must for our better future. 💚
