We are so pleased to be supporting the partnership between Maidenhead United Football Club and Campaign Against Living Miserably for a second year, alongside our partners Smedvig The renewed partnership launched last week at a friendly match with AFC Wimbledon which Victoria Manston and Andrew Cusack from the HUB team were more than happy to attend! Maidenhead United Football Club is located in the heart of the town, just a stroll from our #OneMaidenhead development, where phase one recently completed for Get Living, creating a new community of 429 homes to rent and a new public square. We're supporting the partnership alongside several other organisations, so that Campaign Against Living Miserably can continue to support those in the local community. Supporting the local football club AND a #mentalhealth charity is a win-win for us! The BA Partnership (London) Off The Tap Wilson Partners #TheShanlyFoundation myHRdept. Do you know a school, charity, community group, sports club or guide/scout group that could do with a little more funding (between £500 -£1500)? If so please do point them in the direction of Tesco Stronger Starts funding. It is a lovely fund: the application is relatively short and easy to complete, and the criteria is really open – any project that benefits the community is eligible. We have community enablers to support with the application or to answer questions about the fund. For more information or how to apply please contact our community enablers; emily.croft@groundwork.org.uk michelle.brodie@groundwork.org.uk To apply for the grant, please see the link below; https://lnkd.in/dsA2YDUf #westmidlands #sportsclubs #scoutgroups #guidegroups #communitygroups #birmingham #coventry #stratforduponavon #TescoStrongerStarts

What will 2024 hold for the voluntary and community sector in Yorkshire? We asked this question of 3 incredible thought leaders yesterday as part of our programme of support to organisations that make grants in Yorkshire. Knowing the wider social, economic and political landscape has never been more important for funders when grants are often the lifeline keeping essential charitable organisations going. Together our speakers - Sarah Vibert, CEO of NCVO, Jack Larkham from Pro Bono Economics and Nicky Ruddick from Community First Yorkshire made the collective case that in Yorkshire, where there is a greater number of smaller charities than the national average, 2024 is going to be another challenging year and particularly for grassroots charities. Challenges include recruiting volunteers and trustees, getting the right support and access to bank accounts. All issues that funders consider as part of their due diligence of any grant application. The 40+ funders at the event then had space to consider how their funder practice might need to adapt to ensure that these issues don't get in the way of getting essential funding to local organisations. If you are making grants in Yorkshire - whether as a charity, a business or a public sector body - join Yorkshire Funders today and be better informed. Carla Marshall David Warner MBE Tim Cutts

Reading this and intrigued about what you and your business could do to bring about change? DM, comment below or follow us on socials. Together, we can end homelessness
Homelessness is more of a problem than we recognise! It was great to be invited by Fran Darlington-Pollock & Dolores Panetier to join what could be a powerhouse network of hospitality professionals to combat a concerning crises of homelessness across Greater Manchester. Both charities Only A Pavement Away & Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity are partners for Manchester Hospitality Network & Growth Partners PLC so i'm really excited about getting stuck into this and making a huge difference! Great discussions around the room and If anyone in my network would like to get involved or learn more about the organisations, please give me a shout! #ManchesterHospitalityNetwork

Is our charity governance model fit for the future? The model of charity governance we all work within is founded in the Victorian era and its view of how charity works. But is it fit for purpose in a world that has changed, and are there better ways to ensure good, accountable governance for our sector? Join us at #ACEVOFest24 in March for a robust, intelligent debate that will seek to explore two key questions: 1. Do we sacrifice agility and effective strategic decision-making to maintain the current split between trustee and executive in our board structures of charities? 2. What would/do alternative models of civil society governance look like in the UK and elsewhere, and what advantages/disadvantages could they offer us? Speakers: · Ian Hempseed, head of charities & social enterprises, Hempsons · Daisy O'Reilly-Weinstock Weinstock, director, big bets, Good Innovation · Malcolm John, founder, Action for Trustee Racial Diversity https://lnkd.in/eXd9JvJk

It Takes TWO
We recently carried out a deep clean on the floors at CISCA House, which is a drop-in day centre on Canvey Island that provides a safe and supportive space for people aged over 55. We have been servicing CISCA House for a number of years and take great pride in delivering support to such an important facility for the local community. Our work was incredibly well received - here's what the charity's joint chairpersons had to say: "I wanted to say how impressed we are by the standard of the cleaning/polishing of our main hall floor on Saturday and the two young men who did the job were exemplary." #floorcleaning #commercialcleaning
