Have you ever had a serendipitous moment in your professional life? This week, the Trash Scouts got to receive lots of brand new Toter carts that we will be using for one of our customers. I spent 5 years with WM learning how to collect and dispose of waste, then 8 years with Toter, providing the containers that collect and move the waste, now at Trash Scouts, I get to see all this come together at this serendipitous moment. Please take note💚♻️ When we started this project back in 2019 We didn’t really realise the amount of plastic waste that we consumed as a collective. This project has opened our eyes to our waste problem. We would have loved to have all your waste !! As we have said and others have said we can’t recycle ourselves out of this problem. We were hoping that by 2025 the crisp packet would be band by the Government !! This is not looking like the case although there have been other materials taking place on some brands there is still a long way to go! which we are all very sad about. Although this project is helping many people in so many different ways and making something creative, we can’t wait for the day. The only way really is to be conscious of our consumption to help our planet the long term. For over a year now we have asked for No more Crisp packets to get posted to us here at CPP HQ We are only requiring fused in strips of four or in grids we then can use and accept them. The message is getting out there as we receive beautiful strips and grids most weeks. We thank you for this it’s such a help . We also sadly get hundreds of crisp packets still each week that we can not process or store so these go to a supermarket which is something you can all do instead of using your money and carbon footprint to send to us . This really is a problem to us and our volunteers as time is very valuable and we would rather be making items than sorting crisp packets! Please do email other CPP Support area groups off our website before you start collecting to see if they need any and keep up dated on there own groups progress. We also get a lot of people emailing us about other none CPP projects that were collecting and now have stopped or they can’t get hold of them … and want to send them into us. Please do your research before collecting! Please take them to a supermarket or create something from them off our free website. Thank you for your Understanding and your continued support. It's time to lead in recycling ♻ Ensuring less goes to landfill🚛 Following a few months together, the brotherhood is officially going to be a long-term partnership. Seems I can't shake off the Coggin! With a shared mission to increase recycling rates, at business offices, by 20X, then 100X. Across the UK and then in new markets. Following 53 years of family ownership, and 3 generations of Coggin, the family has asked me to lead the business for a few years. Giving Sam a chance to develop/grow, whilst we take the company nationwide, with help from amazing partners he has worked with for years. It will also give us time to work on programs that we are both really passionate about. Giving back to farmers and the forest-communities we care about. Looking forward to the years ahead brother. To one day welcoming you back into the chair, then much cleverer buggers than you or I. One day, when we have succeed together, we can give back to hundreds of forest families and farmers who need our help. Then many years from now, we can welcome in and mentor the fourth generation of the Coggin family. Seeing them develop and grow, until they are ready to boss us around. What is much more difficult than inventing state of the art recycling technology? Answer: Inventing a new word or phase that gets used widely by others. Who first said "eschay" and is "Dumpster Diver" the best Australian phase to describe the behaviour in this news article below? I can't help much with the first word (I'm not a teenager), but I've been thinking of alternatives to Dumpster Diver. Unfortunately none of the phrases in the first paragraph really hit the mark. But how about Kerbside Klepto? That feels more uniquely Australian, especially given the spelling of kerb is different to American English. I wonder if that could stick? At HAECO, we believe a clean and tidy work environment makes a happy worker. We are safer and healthier when we our workplace has exemplary housekeeping. It also increases our efficiency and productivity at work! The HAECO Clutter Clear Week was organized to get the whole HAECO Hong Kong family involved, using 2 hours within the week to declutter and clear unused or unwanted items for the sake of freeing and tidying up spaces. We also set up a Recycling Station for the collection of recyclables from cleared items. Within the week, we collected an astounding 1650 kg of paper and 15 tonnes of metal destined for recycling. Moreover, we gathered more than 1000 pieces of stationaries at the Recycling Station that were up for grabs for staff and for donation to Salvation Army. The week has definitely created insights on waste management and motivates us to continue creating a better work environment and living out a sustainable lifestyle as a company! It so easy to write a happy Friday post when you've got news like this to share. I know I'm not supposed to have favourites, but there are certain recycling programs that just have it all, and Royal Canin's free recycling program pretty much hits every point of awesomeness. In fact I am SO happy about it... I'm even going to try to use emojis in a post (this is new to me....) 🐶 It's an all-brands recycling program, so you can drop off any brand of dog or cat food plastic bags or pouches for recycling at participating vet stores, Petbarn stores in NZ, and Petstock Group stores in AU. 🐕 It's a program that accepts soft plastic petfood packaging! That's right... you CAN recycle soft plastic petfood packaging in Australia and New Zealand thanks to Royal Canin. 🐱 For every kilo of pet food packaging recycled Royal Canin ALSO donates $1 to wonderful charities like the RSPCA and Blind Low Vision NZ. 🐈 Thanks to the program we get to post cute puppy photos on our LinkedIn feed. 🚮 Thanks to our free recycling programs like this one, my red bin is only about 1/3 full every week whereas it used to be overflowing!
