We Don't Have Time is launching a series of lectures together with a number of Stockholm based institutions on the connection between Climate Change and Democracy. I encourage all to take a look at these lectures, which will be available on demand via We Don't Have Time in the coming weeks. The importance of Democracy in the fight against Climate Change is often overlooked, sometimes it's even seen as a hindrance for climate action, with authoritarian states seemingly being able to enforce environmental policy much more swiftly. This often fails to materialize as autocracies rely on constant supervision to enforce a policy. This is because of a lack of "Buy-in" from citizens in non-democracies. With representation, proper information and opportunities for input from citizens, decisions take longer to form, but are much more likely to actually reach the desired effect. Looking forward to this series as it will dive deeper into these questions! #Democracy #ClimateChange #Sustainability

Coming back for the kick off meeting of Pathways2Resilience, looking forward to the next 18 months working with regions on their climate resilience strategies. A couple of unexpected observation (at least form me) - lots of interesting in visioning and futures as a way to engage local stakeholders and expand the way planing is done. But more than the methods, it’s about how to embed these regions into policy and citizens processes and thinking. - many questions about monitoring and evaluation of adaptation, what are adaptation outcomes? Which I think connects nicely with the point above. How to understand progress in the context of deep uncertainties and highly local agendas. looking forward to working with Sanchita Bakshi Ricardo Silva Valeria Di Fant Silvia Doglioni in these topics, and of course, the 40 regions!
