What is #inclusion to you? “Inclusion means everyone being part of the gang, fun, learning etc ....no matter what makes them unique. It’s like inviting everyone to play in the same game, work on the same project, or learn in the same class, even if they’re different in some ways. Inspiring inclusion is about making sure nobody feels left out. It’s like throwing a big party where everyone feels happy and included, no matter who they are. Imagine a school where every kid, whether they’re tall or short, good at sports or good at art, feels like they belong. That’s what inclusion looks like. It’s about accepting people for who they are and cheering them on, no matter what. Inclusion isn’t just about being nice; it’s about making the world a better place for everyone. When we include people who are different from us, we get to learn new things and see the world from different perspectives. It’s like putting together a puzzle where every piece is different but fits perfectly to make something beautiful. Inspiring inclusion is like planting seeds of kindness and watching them grow into a garden of friendship and understanding. It’s about celebrating what makes each of us special and finding strength in our diversity. So let’s be champions of inclusion, making sure everyone feels valued, respected, and part of the team. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels like they belong, no matter what.” -Mabel Ekele, Educator Thank you so much, Mabel Ekele We truly appreciate this refreshing perspective. 👏🏾👏🏾 Join the #tbnvoicesofinclusion today. Inclusion UK Multi-identities and Intersectionality Training Our lived experiences cannot simply be explained by only taking into account single characteristics, such as gender, age, or race. Our lives are multi-dimensional and we have multi-identities. Our experiences are shaped by different factors and social dynamics. People can experience privilege and oppression simultaneously. Oppressions are interlinked and cannot be solved alone. Intersectionality theory stresses the importance of considering an individual's combination of group memberships and identities to more thoroughly understand the individual's unique social experiences and worldview. The concept of intersectionality suggests that inequities are never the result of single distinct factors. Inequities are the outcome of intersections of different social locations, power relations and experiences. In this training you explore how your various identities were constructed and formed through your interactions with people and your socio-cultural environments. We discuss important issues such as how internalised ‘isms’ (i.e., racism, ableism, heterosexism, sexism) and imposter syndrome impact day to day interactions people have in the workplace, and how these interactions may hold people back. Through this training, you will gain insight on how to contribute to building an inclusive culture by addressing inequities. Promoting Inclusion: Tips for Teaching Kids (and Adults) to Be More Inclusive In an increasingly diverse world, inclusion is not just an option; it's a necessity. Teaching inclusivity starts at home and within our communities. Here are some practical 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 to help foster inclusivity in both children and adults: 𝟭. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 🧑🏫 Children learn by observing adults. Model inclusive behavior in your daily life: use respectful language, show empathy, and embrace differences. 𝟮. 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 🌎🎨 Expose your family to a variety of cultures and perspectives. This can include books, movies, music, and cultural festivals. 𝟯. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 🗣️👐 Create an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. Encourage children and adults to ask questions and discuss topics of diversity and inclusion. 𝟰. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 ❤️🤝 Engage your family in activities that promote empathy, such as volunteering or community projects. Talking about others' experiences and how our actions can positively impact them is key to developing an inclusive attitude. 𝟱. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 🌈🤗 Teach children to include everyone in activities, games, and conversations. This is not only important for social development but also reinforces the value of diversity. 𝟲. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 🧠🔍 Encourage critical thinking that questions biases and stereotypes. Talk openly about how prejudices can be harmful and explore ways to combat them. 𝟳. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 🎉🎈 Celebrate differences instead of ignoring them. Recognizing and appreciating diversity strengthens inclusion and fosters a sense of community. Inclusion starts with small steps that each of us can take. Let's make inclusion a core value in our lives and businesses! 🌍💖 #inclusion #diversity #kidsinclusion #WeAreKids #kidsUE

Delivering inclusive and accessible environments so that people and businesses can thrive I Podcast Host - A Dog Called Diversity I
Many people working in Diversity & Inclusion are appointed to their role internally. This is great because in many ways you already understand the organisation and have built relationships with people who will need to influence in your work. But do you have a structure to think about how to implement actions to have an impact within your organisation? People often say to me, “I don’t know where to start!” or “It’s hard to know where to focus because there’s so much to do!” I get it. It’s why I created 6 Weeks to Get Started in Diversity & Inclusion. I saw the gap in approaching this work in a structured and business-like way, so you can have the biggest impact. Doors are open now the last cohort for 2024. You don’t want to miss out because this is the last time I’ll be teaching the content live too. Coach, educator, speaker, author || Creator of learning events and activities that build the confidence to be more inclusive || Follow me for posts on how inclusion supports leadership and culture change in work and life
**INCLUSION STARTS WITHIN** How do we create workplace cultures which get past the fear of 'saying the wrong thing' in our interactions with others? This is one of many questions explored in an insightful report from IMD on inclusive language and images. It's the number one 'pain point' I encounter in my work on inclusion, and one I'm not immune from. We can learn the skills - I think we often know more that we think we do, and it's useful to have people explore this in a space where it's OK to be clumsy. But it all starts with finding an intrinsic motivation - it has to matter enough to us to want to do it in the first place. That means moving ego out of the way, and seeing the risk of getting it wrong as a teachable moment. It's also about seeing it as one of the most important life skills in today's world. So whilst it's a neat play on words (inclusion does indeed start with 'in), there is a deeper message to learn and re-learn every day.

From an early age, children are exposed to various cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. However, many educational systems still lack true diversity, which limits students’ understanding of the broader world. This lack of exposure can lead to misconceptions and biases, as individuals project their own thoughts onto others without truly understanding different communities. When we take our thoughts and assume they are universal, we do a disservice to ourselves and to those we fail to understand #Diversity #Inclusion #Education #Workplace #LifeSkills #Equality #Empowerment #CommunityBuilding #SocialJustice #MexitNews
