🚀 I'm really excited to share my first investment at EnBW New Ventures in sustainability data startup Sunhat! Sunhat drives the #sustainability transformation in businesses across sectors and offers the operating system for ESG data. With 11,700 companies currently affected by reporting obligations, the number of indirectly affected suppliers and partners is already significantly higher. Eventually, all companies will be required to disclose their #ESG data. With increasing requirements, a central system for the accurate transmission of this data is crucial 🕐 AI-powered answers in seconds! Lukas Vogt, Ali Kamalizade, Alexander Behr, and their team have developed a software that makes required data usable for various requirements - within seconds. Sunhat offers companies a flexible platform to map the multitude of sustainability requirements, manage associated projects, and fulfill necessary tasks supported by #AI. Sunhat focuses on making the existing data dynamically usable for different needs, establishing the software solution as a crucial tool for users. 🤝I'm looking forward to working with the team and the existing investors Capnamic, xdeck, and WEPA, who also participated in the €5 million funding round.

The unique nuances as well as macroeconomic climate made the funding journey for #AgTech startups rather bumpy, reflecting in slow adoption and very few exits relative to other sectors. However, in a recent interview, FMC Ventures’ Managing Director @Mark Brooks stated that AgTech is still venturable. 💸 Here are the fields he’s most excited about: 🔸 #Agrifintech, which is instrumental in helping farmers get access to credit lending and enables better access to more sustainable inputs 🔸 Genetic editing: In crop protection, for instance, gene editing may stand out as a complement to biologicals. 🔸 Anything around #genAI and #ML: For example, in biologicals, generative AI could help with understanding what genes to target and how to target them. Generative AI is a way to accelerate or shrink the R&D process and stay ahead of or at least catch up to the impact that climate change is having on pest pressures or disease resistance. One more thing for agtech startups to watch is probably they gonna see fewer ag-specific funds. There’ll be more impact funds, more sustainability-focused funds, and ESG funds, Mark says. CEO @ Hello Tomorrow | Helping deep tech startups, investors, and mature companies work together and solve world challenges
A few interesting conversations we will be having next week at the Hello Tomorrow Summit 🧠 📈 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 Globally, deep tech investments have followed the downwards VC trend since 2022, but it has proven very resilient compared to the "rest of tech". Hear from renowned investors what they're witnessing and expecting for the next few years. This panel will include: Yoram Wijngaarde (Dealroom.co), Steven Jacobs (Lakestar), Pae W (SOSV) Moderated by: Myself! 🪨 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗽 Critical minerals are the oil of the future: their sky-rocketing demand due to the economy’s electrification & the growth of connected devices is not close to plateau soon. The way we mine, utilize & recycle them must drastically evolve in the coming decades to catch up with it. Beyond the numbers, our speakers will share their thoughts on the following tough questions: Is battery recycling technology ready & scalable? How to mine minerals sustainably? What impact from geopolitics to expect? This panel will include: Julia Davourie (Convergent Ventures), Lilian Schwich (cylib), Eric Dusseux (Breakthrough Energy ) Moderated by: Benjamin Tincq (Marble) 🚑 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 The lack of diversity in healthcare endeavors has led to an unequal distribution of health-related services and solutions, especially for underrepresented parts of society: women, people of colour… From genomics science to digitized and decentralized clinical trials, our speakers will share how diversity can be embedded by design in the development of new healthcare solutions & they will discuss the role of entrepreneurs versus policy-makers on this matter. This panel will include: Maxine Mackintosh (Genomics England), Alison Holland (Medable, Inc) Moderated by: Sarah Neville (Financial Times) 🏭𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 ‘𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗢𝗳-𝗔-𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱’ 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 The step from POC to industrialization is steep for deep tech startups. New technologies are often linked to novel production processes & if building a first factory isn’t easy, First-Of-A-Kind factories come with even more challenges! From financing options to regulatory environment & from internal skills and organization to external industrial partnerships, we’ll cover in this panel all the necessary steps to manage a successful transition to industrialization. This panel will include: Yair Reem (Extantia), Ben Saada (FAIRMAT), Aude Guo (Innovafeed) Moderated by: Victoria Sassoon (Synonym) Want to hear them speak? Join us 👉 https://lnkd.in/ewPiu3N9
