Head of Deep Technology- Agriculture, Climate & Industry at Cicada Innovations, Australia’s home of DeepTech. I help ventures grow and develop value through strategic, technological, leadership, and cultural intelligence
Thank you to the #AgTech community who attended our AgTech Connect breakfast. After lively conversations over coffee, we unpacked with a #farmer, an #innovator and an #investor, the potential for deep tech to transform the agriculture industry. Thank you to our panel Rob Hulme, Jennifer Medway GAICD, and Heba Khamis, for sharing their expertise in the agriculture industry. Key highlights from the discussion included: Build Trust: Connect with the farmer's network of trusted advisors. Gain their trust by understanding their pain points and solving real problems. Focus on Benefits: Speak their language! Highlight how your innovation improves efficiency, saves money, and tackles challenges like climate change and labour shortages. Multiple Solutions: Don't just solve one problem. Offer multi-purpose solutions that cater to farmers' long-term needs and financial fluctuations. Embrace Innovation: Data, automation, and AI are the future. Invest in tech that empowers farmers to manage daily operations and build resilience against environmental threats. The Future: AgTech is about systems integration, not just single-use gadgets. Think automation for dirty jobs, data-driven decision-making, and carbon sequestration solutions. Helping Brands Build Authentic Connections With Their Audiences | Chief Marketing & Communications Officer | Co-Founder at THRILL Communications LLC
So much incredible innovation happening in food and #agritech, but if communicated the wrong way - it can fall flat or scare people away! We’re not only talking about consumers, but farmers, government, investors, your friends, family and more. With so many new words, technologies (#generativeAI) and potential concern for the future of farmers, this call to action for communications was echoed by an incredible panel of academics and startup founders I listened to recently. This Agri-Tech meetup hosted by the So Cal Chapter of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce at the beautiful Cal Poly Pomona Agriscapes center, showcased the group’s exciting and promising innovations to scale. From startup - Hatchless producing all natural no-kill meat from only eggs, to better understanding your biological soil quality from Swiss-based startup - DigiT Soil. Shout out to Mathias H., Markus Bohi and California State Polytechnic University-Pomona for hosting. #marketing #pr #storytelling #agritech #foodtech #ai #artificialintelligence #foodinvestment #venturecapital #saccsocal

Vice President of Client Services at Stratus Ag Research | Driving Innovation in Agriculture with Data-Driven Insights
Entering Day 2 of the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit with a renewed sense of purpose. Yesterday’s sessions highlighted the immense potential and challenges of modern agriculture, and today, I’m keen to explore innovative solutions that can drive our industry forward. There were some very interesting questions brought up yesterday such as, how do we work as partners vs. competitors? Collaboration is going to be key to unlocking data silos. If you’re around and want to discuss innovative research, trends, or potential collaborations, I’d be thrilled to meet. DM me to arrange a conversation. #WorldAgriTech

World Agri-Tech, San Francisco ➡ Sencrop is on stage with Javelot and Kubota Corporation. Lot of interests from attendants at this professional discussion about “How Innovative Equipment and Digital Solutions Create Value From Field to Post-Harvest?” Here are the topics that were addressed at the conference today: - in #agtech, the need of different seasons to calibrate and make sure to validate its solution and iterate with in-field players and growers ; - the need to increase the adoption of digital solutions for the benefits of farmers and their partners (cooperatives, equipment and biosolutions companies ; farmers' groups ...) ; - the need to have good telecom connectivity to make sure data is available anytime and is of high-quality ; - how to avoid trap of a too thin market when you are in ag-tech? ; - the need to generate interest not only for farmers but also their partners, that helps to grow faster ; - the need to overinvest in the customers support (with automated and personalized process) and create trust with farmers ; - in ag-tech, there is a challenge to create value, with unit economics that works for start-ups: how to develop a good business model? one of the key is to generate strong usage Michael B., Félix BONDUELLE, Daria Batukhtina have shared their thoughts. Thank you La French Tech & World Agri-Tech #data #adoption #agtech #innovation Clara Chappaz

Founded by Dr. Max Jamilly and Ed Steele in 2020, Hoxton Farms is one of a handful of startups developing fats for #meatalternatives, a hot area of development in the #alternativeprotein space with applications in #plantbased and #cultivatedmeat. “Meat alternatives don’t taste good enough, and it’s the key reason that consumers don’t repeat purchase,” Jamilly told us at the SynBioBeta conference in San Jose last week. “Key to fixing that disappointment is fat. If you can’t get the fat right, it’s impossible to recreate the experience that meat eaters crave. “And, of course, there are many other advantages to fat too [in the cellular ag space]. It’s a lot more scalable than muscle and it grows faster.” #SynBioBeta AgFunder #foodtech #machinelearning #ai #artificialintelligence #cellularagriculture Watch the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gJRhs7G2

Software is Feeding the World is introducing a new feature today called "SFTW Startup Spotlight (S3)" This will be a monthly deep dive into an interesting startup. The first startup on this list is Traive which works with financial institutions in Brazil to enable more informed lending to farmers using artificial intelligence models The write up provides insights into some of the challenges and opportunities in Brazilian farming, as it relates to access to credit Based on my conversation with Aline Oliveira Pezente (Co-Founder and CPO of Traive) and Mohammad Ghassemi (VP of Data Science at Traive), I do a deep dive into some recent research published by Traive and how it helps financial institution assess credit risk for an underserved segment. The research from Traive shows the power of Bayesian networks working in tandem with AI models by taking domain and regional knowledge into account in an environment which is data poor. It helps Traive's customers serve an underserved market, and will hopefully create better opportunities for midsize farmers in Brazil (and elsewhere) to access credit in a meaningful fashion.
