Welcome to DAYHOUSE LIVING, a BIOPHILIC MAGAZINE, where DESIGN meets NATURE, HEALTH and SUSTAINABILITY. Since not many people know terms like biophilic design, regenerative design, nature-centric design, design for health, multisensory and restorative spaces, building biology and neuroaesthetics, the magazine aims to fill this knowledge gap within a general population. HOSPIWOOD, THE GARDEN-HOSPITAL OF THE 21st CENTURY by Vincent Callebaut Architectures Hospiwood challenges the traditional hospital model known as "Monospace" (care machine) to provide more humanistic and patient-centered healthcare to improve their experience during their stay in hospital and optimize their recovery time. Immersed in nature, bathed in natural light, its architecture built in cross laminated timber and its white ceramic facades with soft curves form a veritable vertical garden where the patient is treated in a biophilic atmosphere providing a feeling of well-being, of calm and serenity. The analysis of sober approaches and innovative solutions was carried out in order to identify the right balance in the technical choices between “Low-Tech” and “High-Tech”. The sustainability of a hospital lies above all in the intelligence of its spatial design to make it reversible at will and adaptable to developments in future technologies and the inherent needs of future health crises.
