Speaking at CISOLAR & IBES 2023, Carolina Novac, Secretary of State, Ministry of Energy of Moldova, described the achievements of Moldova's renewable energy sector, noting a significant increase in total installed capacity from 61.6 MW in 2018 to 206.81 MW at the end of 2022. Novac highlighted the substantial growth of PV plants during this period, rising to 60.13 MW in 2022 from only 4.02 MW in 2018. ⚡️ The ramp-up of renewable energy sources requires a significant increase in power system flexibility.    🎯 The Clean Energy for All Europeans Package (CEP) clearly defines market-based integration & market-based remuneration of demand-response as the European target model.    🛠 Market-based procurement of flexibility should be the preferred approach to the development of flexibility as it leads to lower redispatch costs, facilitates grid operation and requires lower grid investments.   🤝 Local flexibility markets are an efficient addition to the integrated wholesale electricity market. The European Commission has given its approval to a €17.7bn Italian initiative aimed at facilitating the establishment and functioning of a centralised electricity storage system. Italy's proposed scheme involves supporting the development of electricity storage facilities, collectively possessing a capacity exceeding 9 GW/71 GWh. The primary objective of this measure is to streamline the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into the Italian electricity grid. Being the paver in the #EU #Germany bears utmost potential for energy storage across all segments. Colombia’s energy market In 2023, Colombia experienced significant shifts in its energy landscape, marked by notable achievements and trends in the power sector. Bilateral contracts were 94,311.58 GWh of energy transactions in 2023, Valora Analitik reported. These transactions boasted a weighted average price of CoP$284.25/kWh in the regulated market and CoP$277.43/kWh in the unregulated market. Energy dispatched, through the Sicep’s public calls, reached 12,123.23 GWh – a remarkable 35.49% increase compared to 2022’s 8,947.66 GWh.
