Connecting the dots within the payments ecosystem🌐💳 Payment transaction usually flow within seconds by involving several key entities and steps. Below is a simplified diagram and explanation of the process: 1. Cardholder: The individual who owns the credit card and initiates a transaction by making a purchase. 2. Merchant: - The business or entity selling goods or services. 3. Payment Gateway or Point of sale: A service that processes the credit card information, securely transmitting it to the payment processor. 4. Payment Processor: The company (often a third party) that handles the transaction by sending it to the card network. 5. Card Network: (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, American Express) A network that routes the transaction between the acquiring bank and the issuing bank. 6. Issuing Bank: The bank or financial institution that issued the credit card to the cardholder. 7. Acquiring Bank: The bank or financial institution that holds the merchant’s account and receives the transaction from the card network. 8. Settlement and Clearing: The process by which funds are transferred from the cardholder's issuing bank to the merchant’s acquiring bank. #payments #ecosystem #digital #bank #fintechs #business
