Introducing a Safer, Eco-Friendly Gold Leaching Process! 🪙 We're proud to share that we have developed an innovative, bromine-based leaching technology that presents a cleaner, safer alternative to cyanide for the gold mining industry. Since the 1970s, more than 30 major cyanide spills have occurred worldwide, leaking billions of gallons of toxic waste into ecosystems, killing wildlife, and contaminating water sources (according to USGS Publications & Mining Technology & MINE Magazine ). Our new process eliminates these risks while outperforming cyanide in extracting gold from refractory ores - a key challenge for many mining operations. This technology reduces operational costs and ensures a more sustainable approach, setting a new standard for safety and efficiency in the industry! We recently spoke to Mining Magazine about how Barrick Gold Corporation is using #GlycineLeachingTechnology to reduce costs and improve its environmental footprint. "GLT is a lower-cost reagent up front and has lower detoxification costs in the tailing stream. Using GLT instead of cyanide to leach the gold brought cyanide consumption at Bulyanhulu down from 10-15kg per tonne to around 5kg per tonne. This has saved about $5 per tonne in operating costs, which amounts to about 10% of plant operating costs overall." Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gjTwvtsp
Beth McLoughlin writes about Barrick Gold Corporation is using Glycine Leaching Technology to save costs and reduce environmental impact by using less cyanide in operations "It was one of our operations where we identified that we could make a fairly significant impact quite quickly," said Simon Bottoms, mineral resource management and evaluation executive at Barrick Gold, speaking to Mining Magazine. Group sustainability executive Grant Beringer stressed that Barrick maintains strict standards regarding cyanide management even though the company is using less of it. Innovative CCUS Technology! ### Brine Mining### We are excited to share a glimpse into our cutting-edge Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) process through brine mining, demonstrated in the attached photo. This technology exemplifies our commitment to sustainable practices and innovative solutions.🔬 Process Overview: 1.Desalination Brine: Starting point. 2.Mg(OH)₂ Formation: Initial formation stage. 3.Mg(OH)₂ Sludge: Intermediate sludge stage. 4.MgCO₃ (Liquid): Conversion into liquid form. 5.MgCO₃ Sludge after Filtration: Post-filtration and dry stage. 6.MgCO₃ (Powder): Final high-purity product Impact and Efficiency:From 1 ton of brine, we extract approximately 8kg of high-purity MgCO₃. This process neutralizes around 3.1kg of CO₂, contributing to our carbon neutrality goals. We are proud of the strides we are making towards a greener future and the role our technology plays in carbon reduction and resource recovery. Stay tuned for more updates on our journey! #Sustainability #CCUS #Innovation #GreenTechnology #BrineMining #CarbonNeutral

💡 Did you know that sand is one of the most heavily mined commodities in the world and an essential element in construction, manufacturing and consumer products? Newmont is partnering with The University of Queensland to create a sustainable alternative to sand extraction by transforming unused materials from mining into this valuable resource. Dr Juliana Segura-Salazar and her team are aiming to create a new kind of sand - ore-sand – with the help of Newmon’s Cadia operation, which has supplied hundreds of kilograms of sandy feedstock for functional testing. Early results of the Newmont samples have been promising, with the next step involving the development of a prototype ore-sand and production process. Newmont is proud to partner with researchers to help achieve our purpose of creating value and improving lives through sustainable and responsible mining. #NewmontAustralia #SustainableMining #InnovationInMining #OreSand #CircularEconomy #MiningPartnerships

In the face of dwindling high-grade ore deposits, the mining industry is ingeniously turning challenges into opportunities. A noteworthy shift is underway towards reprocessing existing tailings, a move that is redefining both the economic and environmental landscape of mining operations. Thanks to advancements in technology, such as sensor-based sorting, data analysis and chemical advancement, the reprocessing of tailings has become more efficient and cost-effective. This innovative approach not only unlocks new revenue streams by extracting valuable minerals previously considered uneconomical but also plays a crucial role in environmental conservation. By targeting these untapped resources, we can significantly reduce the ecological footprint of mining activities, addressing the critical issue of waste accumulation, and minimising further land disturbance. The strategic reprocessing of mineral-rich tailings exemplifies the mining sector's commitment to sustainable development. It represents a confluence of economic viability and environmental stewardship, setting a precedent for future operations in our relentless pursuit of sustainability. Let's embrace these technological advancements and support initiatives that promote the responsible utilisation of our planet's resources. The path to a more sustainable and prosperous future lies in our ability to innovate and adapt. #SustainableMining #EnvironmentalConservation #InnovationInMining #ResourceRecovery #TailingsReprocessing
