#50YearsofCDBG #BlastfromthePast Created in 1990, the Benewah Medical Center was the result of the first partnership between Indian Health Service (HIS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish a tribally run community health center. Phase III of the project, Coeur d’Alene Tribe Wellness Center (pictured), opened in July of 1998 with the help of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding and other partners. In 2023, we provided support to 11,429 community health workers (CHWs) and reached out to 6,179,910 people across the three countries where we operate. We are extremely grateful to the CHWs who tirelessly serve their communities, the governments we collaborate with, our funders who actively support our work, and our partners who we team up with and learn from. You can learn more about our work by checking out our annual report: https://lnkd.in/dsMi6dzs #CommunityHealth #DigitalHealth #Impact #CHWs #Kenya #Uganda #BurkinaFaso #annualreport Here are four ways we made a positive impact in 2023.

In what ways does "place" affect the health of the communities you serve? Explore the idea of spatial justice in this new primer. Let's make sure everyone is in a place that facilitates their health and well-being!
It's an exciting week for BHPN as we launched the new Public Health Primer: Engaging Community Development for Health Equity! The primer was developed through a collaboration between Build Healthy Places Network and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) to establish mutually supportive collaborations between these two sectors to advance health equity. It emphasizes the importance of resident leadership and provides guidance on how relationship-building can address injustices and promote equitable change in communities. Our purpose and goal at Auxilium is health equity for everyone. Health equity is attainment at the highest level of health for everyone in the community. It means a focused and ongoing effort to address avoidable socioeconomic in health, healthcare and community development. Also, we at Auxilium realize that a person's health is intrinsically tied to their economic well-being and that financial instability has direct ramifications on their health. The connection between health and community development is clear: the healthier a community is, the wealthier a community is. Low-to-moderate income communities tend to suffer more from health issues than wealthier neighborhoods. At Auxilium, we aim to address this inequality and help these communities get the healthcare they deserve.

CIH Cymru suggests that removing the stigma associated with social housing could help address the shortage of it in Wales. Opposition stemming from this stigma has seriously delayed a number of social housing developments and can interfere with delivering units where they're needed most. Community engagement can help address this and identify areas most in need of particular forms of housing. Rural enablers will play an especially important role in changing attitudes, with the eventual goal of streamlining the development process. Do you think a similar approach could work in Ireland? #SocialHousing #CommunityEngagement #HousingPolicy #AffordableHousing
Community engagement should be a mandatory part of the social housing grant process, says CIH Cymru

Honoured to serve Chatham-Kent as Councillor for Ward 6; member of Ontario Caucus of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Communications Specialist.
Each week Chatham-Kent Employment & Social Services provides a snapshot of the approximate number of people in Chatham-Kent experiencing homelessness and the number of households that are accessing emergency housing. Attached is this week’s review: 44 households 2 families 2 children 190 individuals on the ByName list 3 new users for the first time These stats do not include individuals supporting themselves at local motels. This is where we need to be focusing our municipal finances and efforts. There is no point in focusing on any other downtown Chatham proposals until this issue has been addressed in a much more fulsome way. If there is $60million available to be spent on unnecessarily moving three municipal buildings two blocks, why not spend half that (or even a quarter, or a tenth) on what our community actually needs. And what we desperately need is housing and supports across the continuum here in CK.
