📊 ESMA has just released its fourth report on the quality and use of data, marking significant progress in enhancing transparency and efficiency in financial markets. 🔍 This year's report expands its coverage to include transparency data published by APAs under MiFIR, data supporting MiFIR transparency calculations, data reported under the Securitisation Regulation, and data on funds collected under AIFMD and MMFR. 💡 ESMA's Data Strategy update in June 2023 sets the stage for mobilising data assets to support strategic objectives till 2028, emphasising the importance of data quality and use. 🔄 Data quality and use function hand in hand, reinforcing each other in a virtuous cycle. The report highlights key developments in data quality engagement frameworks, including systematic identification of issues and continuous improvement efforts. 📈 Notable improvements in 2023 include better quality of incoming files reported by ARMs, enhancements in APA data, and strides in data processing efficiency. 🤝 ESMA emphasises transparency by making available methodologies for calculating data quality indicators and codes for automatic data file downloads from APAs websites. This move aims to foster mutual understanding and alignment of priorities among reporting entities, market infrastructures, data users, and the regulatory community. ESMA concluded their report stating, “Most importantly, ESMA stresses that ensuring data quality remains a primary duty of supervised entities. Firms, and particularly their top management, are expected to take ownership of the data they report and increase its use for internal purposes, as the more data is used, the more it can improve.” Our solutions are built to Ensure firms report Accurate, Complete and Timely transactions.
