🚨 FEMA Update 🚨 Today, in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security and the White House, FEMA has unveiled the allocation of nearly $2 billion in funding for two pivotal resilience grant initiatives, meticulously crafted to empower communities in their efforts to counter the impacts of climate change and the growing frequency of severe weather events. Under the aegis of FEMA's Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) annual grant program, an impressive $1 billion has been earmarked to finance projects that are geared towards safeguarding both people and vital infrastructure against the perils of natural hazards and the adverse effects of climate change. Additionally, the Flood Mitigation Assistance program will channel a significant $800 million towards projects dedicated to mitigating flood-related risks that confront homes and communities across the entire nation. ☎️ The EisnerAmper Government Services Team today to assist you with these grant programs ✉️ lsjohnson@pncpa.com 📌 https://lnkd.in/g_sNHtse #disasterrecovery #emergencymanagement #immediateneedsfunding #FEMA #FEMAPublicAssistance #disastermanagement #disasterresponse #FEMAAlerts #DisasterReliefFund #ContinuingResolution #EmergencyPreparedness

Building resilience before disaster lowers the need during and after disaster, programs like BRIC and FMA provide funding for communities to do just that! Disaster risks are changing as our climate changes, ask the question of your community - what are we doing to build resilience and protect our community as we face new or different risks?

Every mitigation grant announcement is great and reflects years of hard work by local, state, and federal government leaders. However, we cannot ignore just how long it takes for grant recipients to actually break ground and get funds disbursed. According to OpenFEMA HMA data, for FY 2020-2022 FMA and BRIC allocations, FEMA has only actually awarded $1.110 billion. Of that, FEMA has only disbursed $47.181 million (4.25%). Of the 1,188 subgrants, 875 (73.65%) have not actually received one dollar. Critical, lifesaving resilience funds are sitting unused! Disaster Relief Strategies has solutions to bridge this financial gap so jurisdictions can expedite their awarded projects and free up resources to take on even larger HMA projects.
Today, FEMA announces the 656 project selections for $1 billion in climate resilience funding for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program. These projects will help state, Tribal, local, and territorial governments address current and future risks from natural disasters including extreme heat, wildfires, drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, and increased flooding. We are also excited to announce 93 communities, territories, and Tribal Nations selected to received BRIC Direct Technical Assistance to help build community-wide resilience through the BRIC program. These efforts highlight the importance of FEMA’s continued commitment to putting “people first” and helping communities, families, and businesses build climate resilience. It also aligns with the 2024 FEMA Year of Resilience theme to build capacity to withstand tomorrow’s hazards. Visit FEMA.gov for more information on BRIC selections. https://lnkd.in/eJfbqDNw

❇ In 1972, on June 5, the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment was held in Stockholm, Sweden. In honor of this day, the world celebrated its first World Environment Day in 1973. Since then, on June 5, World Environment Day has been observed across the globe to raise awareness around environmental action. This year's theme is "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience" with the slogan "Our Land. Our Future”. In today’s unpredictable world, concerns about natural hazards, human disasters and climate change are ever-present. This uncertainty often leads us to ponder numerous “what ifs” regarding the environment we live in, creating a sense of apprehension. So, how can we manage this anxiety effectively? The European Commission, in close cooperation with Member States, identified 5 goals to pursue collectively, in the field of disaster risk management, so that European citizens are safe in any scenario, both unforeseen and expected: 1. Anticipate 2. Prepare 3. Alert 4. Respond 5. Secure ❇ In this context, "DRM Frame" can play a pivotal role in the field of Disaster Risk Management (DRM). The project integrates existing scientific multi-disciplinary knowledge in the field and co-develops innovative approaches and tools for learning, training, and navigation in the field of civil protection and resilience. The project is mostly oriented to the development of skills and capacity of professionals in DRM. The project aims to provide practical, relevant, and up-to-date training opportunities for professionals working in the field, thereby enhancing their skills and capacities not only for responding to a disaster but for being prepared as well. #WorldEnvironmentDay #GenerationRestoration #Sustainability #EnvironmentalAwareness #ErasmusPlus #VET #EuropeanCommission #Drmframe #SkillsDevelopment #CrisisManagement #CommunityResilience #DisasterRecovery #EmergencyPlanning #EmpowermentThroughEducation #AccessToEducation #DRMprofessionals
