As I continue to explore cultural bridging I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that one of the key divides in the world today is the digital one. As a report from Telefónica points out we need to 'close the digital divide without leaving anyone behind.' This goes beyond bridging the access/coverage gap. #digitalization #inclusion #digitalinclusion #culturalbridges

🌟 We'd like to say a huge thank you to the sponsors of our 2nd annual Gender Equal Financing Conference 2024; their support made our event possible! The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the European Union’s bank. They are the only bank owned by and representing the interests of the European Union Member States and work closely with other EU institutions to implement EU policy. The EIB provide finance and expertise for sustainable investment projects that contribute to EU policy objectives, making a strong impact on the lives of people in Europe and beyond. Special thanks to Lord Ed Vaizey for joining us to launch our Manifesto yesterday. When asked what's holding politicians back from making practical, pragmatic policy decisions about #DigitalInclusion, Ed said: 1. "Focus" - there needs to be sustained focus driven by the top to the frontline. 2. "Sexiness" - digital inclusion doesn't get the prominence it deserves, and you need to bring people together who really care about it. Missed the event? This picture marked was the end of my first stint as an MC. At some point we were 20 minutes behind and we had no idea how to catchup. But somehow this photo was exactly on time! I have put together many conferences but was honored to be able to support the success of the team that put together the Feminist Finance Forum. Sara Diaz Elena Mayer-Besting 💕 I LOVE this conference. Nearly 10 years ago, after 300 conversations across Asia, we wrote a summary of what we saw in the field. We named three things that would enhance the development of the field (which was already strong). This conference is living out those mandates: 1) broaden the frame in the field, from only support women entrepreneurs to seeing broader gender patterns as material to finance. The "feminist" frame of this conference inspired participants to look deeper at the structural inequities underlying and bring a feminist imagination to what is possible in rethinking the system. 2) build what we are now calling the "translation function" to bridge between knowledge of gender and knowledge of finance. We did a workshop the day after the formal conference with civil society organizations to be able to help them build their capacity to translate. 3) create space to innovate. A refrain in the conference was about the need for more appropriate capital, designed to meet the needs of the local economy and the entrepreneur. The conference fostered the relationships and perspectives that will make this innovation possible. https://lnkd.in/gfWuv6Qb. 👩 Women in Trade, Treasury & Payments 2024 – Policy to practice: Addressing gender disparity in financial access 👩💼 To commemorate International Women’s Day and celebrate the many remarkable women across the industry, Trade Finance Global (TFG) held its annual Women in Trade, Treasury, & Payments event at the Lansdowne Club in London. ➡️ Roundtable discussions at the event, held under Chatham House rules, have illuminated the staggering number of women worldwide who remain unbanked and lack equal economic rights. 👩🦰 This complex issue, exacerbated by cultural influences and longstanding traditions, calls for targeted interventions to improve financial education and access, highlighting the necessity of a concerted effort across all sectors of society to address these disparities effectively. 📢 Thank you to our sponsors Asian Development Bank (ADB) and IFC - International Finance Corporation and all of our key partners. 📖 Read the article with the link in the comments! #womenintrade2024 #genderequality #innovation

It was amazing to be part of these refreshingly honest, personal and powerful conversations - thank you to all those women involved (you know who you are!). As a former teacher, I loved the chance to discuss what more we could do for #genderequity in terms of financial literacy... starting from day one, and I think there is SO much more to be done. We talked about how, in an ideal world, we would rethink the whole model of education 🌍 #educationmatters Do exams really set up our students for success beyond school, for business... for life?! Does the current academic structure have an impact on #genderedstereotypes and expectations? What do we want for the next generation? How can we make that change happen? Let's hope these conversations help to move #inspireinclusion forwards more than just talk. Here's to continuing to #breakthebarriers 🙌 💙 Trade Finance Global (TFG)
