In rural West Africa, the rate of out-of-school children is high and delayed entry to primary school is common, particularly for girls. Using the randomized roll-out of a large-scale unconditional cash transfer program in Mali, this new study by Fidele Eric Sessou, Melissa Hidrobo, Shalini Roy, and Lieven Huybregts examined its impact on child schooling: https://lnkd.in/ewiStxxc CGIAR IFPRI Africa

Attendance rates in Senegal go up to 93% for school age children in urban areas and as low as 10% in rural areas. There is a high rate of drop outs in primary school. only 53% of people in primary school complete it. Fares for education in Senegal are higher when compared to neighboring countries. The quality of teachers is also low as there is limited funding for teacher development and teaching seminars. #education #foundation #support #academics #access

"Education is a Universal Right, Not a Privilege." In many rural parts of Nigeria, children face immense challenges in accessing quality education. Lack of infrastructure, insufficient teaching materials, and a shortage of qualified teachers are just a few of the obstacles that stand in their way. This stark reality is in sharp contrast to other parts of the world, where students have access to modern facilities, well-trained educators, and abundant resources. While students in developed countries enjoy the benefits of technology-enhanced learning and diverse educational opportunities, many Nigerian children struggle in overcrowded classrooms, if they have classrooms at all. The gap in educational quality not only hinders the personal development of these children but also stunts the potential growth of our nation. Education is a fundamental human right. It should not be determined by one's geographical location or economic background. We must advocate for policies that ensure every child in Nigeria, regardless of where they live, has access to quality education. Join us in demanding better infrastructure, more resources, and skilled teachers for rural schools. Let's bridge the educational divide and give every Nigerian child the future they deserve. Take action today: Sign the petition for educational reform in rural Nigeria. Together, we can make a difference. https://chng.it/FNh8sy7m2Y #QualityEducation #EducationForAll #BetterFuture #JedChildTrust #UNICEF #SDGs

UNICEF estimates that 10.5 million children in Nigeria are out of school, but even those who are enrolled face poor learning environments that stifle their ability to thrive. The link between adequate infrastructure and student performance cannot be overstated. Studies indicate that schools with proper learning environments including adequate lighting, ventilation, and space are more likely to produce better academic outcomes. However, Nigeria's public schools continue to fall short of these basic standards, leaving millions of children at a disadvantage. Register to join us for this virtual event as experts from relevant sectors proffer collaborative solutions to addressing the critical state of infrastructure for basic education in Nigerian Public Schools. More details coming soon. #realinitiative #thrivingcommunities #sustainablecommunities

The Weak wagon of Northern Region Education. The Ticking of the clock is too clear, the unfortunate and regrettable times we found our self in the pool of education is pathetic. Today in Ghana web. I saw a most disheartening situation about schools under trees and the looming future leaders sittings on benches to learn. While we are moving so fast with digitization. The research says that 80% of school under trees are found in Northern Region. The ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders in the Educational policy and program implementation have to review the Education structure deficit in the Northern Region, To me the local Authorities like chiefs and concerned citizens should be included to have a broader consultation, the Education is not a for the Government but the Northerners if we fail to educate our own people, then slavery will revisit us. Education is a natural right for humanity when you were the lens, social tolerance, Northern Region is what we have. We are grateful for the donors and philanthropist who in one way or another try to give us a little or more in structures to reduce the number. However Northern Region have to claim ownership of the Education ,this sense Ownership is way to help us improve our infrastructure, so that there will not be any lacking behind in policy improvement and implementation. With this little start we can move forward. Long live Education. Long live Northern Region Long live Ghana. #Abdul Hafiz# haffizabduul@gmail.com
