BIM Coordinators job is NOT only tools, processes, and checking. It's constant communication with the design team: • Understanding bottlenecks, • Knowing who are decision-makers, • Finding out what can be improved through trial and error process 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀. And communication often starts during the meetings. So today I would like to recall one super important aspect of our work - Running coordination meetings. Good Coordination Session vs. Bad One. There is a very thin line between both. Avoid these 5 mistakes, and most likely, your next meeting won't be a disaster. 💥 😉 Next Tuesday, I 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗮 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, sharing my insights about the process of becoming a BIM Coordinator. Review should also be driven from the coordination model and not driven by PowerPoint
Mistake number 2 is more common than you think, for example in my position as a checker, I have sometimes been non-invited to these meetings because of course, it is not my work to make decisions but it is to be aware of all the decisions, arrangements, agreements, design changes, etc, that had made between the different parties of the process to can be aware of what I have to check later, and sometimes the bim coordinator relay in the modeler to communicating me what are they had done but doesn´t happen always, so like you said communication it's important therefore the participation of the different roles that are involved in the process as well has to be a must as well to may guarantee the best outcome.
Interesting, let's find out more,
Error 5 is really compromising. Creating and directing issues in SMART format is a challenge. Those who create are usually doing it in a hurry and just want to feel that "I registered one more issue". However, when it is taken for resolution by the person in charge, the doubts of what, with whom, where and when begin to appear
These are valuable tips, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We will like to hear more from you.
An absolute fact...
