There is one major risk factor when hiring a new BIM contractor that, if present, will put brakes on the whole project — from the design phase to the job site work.🙅 BAD COMMUNICATION. Many teams know how to protect their projects from a lack of experience, neglecting agreed-upon schedules, low-quality service, etc. However, when it comes to communication, it's hard to know if a BIM provider is qualified until you are already working together. Always be mindful of the BIM contractor’s communication. Do not let the low price dictate your final decision as it may cost a lot more to push the project forward. What are your thoughts? Your Title is Not for You - It's for the Client. We get bogged down in the nuances of our job titles - BIM Manager, VDC Specialist, BIM Coordinator, etc. Titles are an important part of how you position your expertise and the value you bring. However, the title that resonates most with your internal team is often not the one that will be most meaningful to the client. For instance, you may have a "BIM Manager" title within your company. But, when talking to clients, a title like "Project Delivery Lead," "BIM Coordinator," "Detailer" or Draftsman may be more impactful. The same goes for project engineer vs Assistant project manager. It all depends on the company and client. The specific role you play matters way more than your job title.
