Do you know someone who is adopted? Can you imagine how different their life could have been if they hadn't been adopted? Have you ever considered the 100's of hours of work it takes for prospective adopters to become approved? 🤔 This week is Adoption Awareness Week - another awareness week I hear you sigh! However, this one is personal for me. 🙏🏼 After many years of failed IVF treatment, miscarriage and desperately trying to create a family of our own, my husband and I are at the end of a (long and intense) process to become approved adopters. (Exciting but terrifying is a phrase I am repeating a lot right now 😆). If I didn't have the extreme flexibility from Elevate Global I cannot imagine how it would have been possible for us to go through the process. Training, assessments, interviews, homework, childcare volunteering - the list goes on, and it all takes time! Employers - when designing your people polices, please don't forget to consider adoption and allow your employees the flexibility to live their life, so they can do their best work at work. #peoplematter #peoplepolicies #adoptionawarenessweek

A dinner chat left me with so many valuable lessons. Two weeks ago I had an amazing time with one great connection here. I was lost in thoughts on giving up on LinkedIn but immediately i saw his profile, I reach out to him that I needeed to have some discussion with him, he booked a call with him and the rest was history. He is indeed a man of value, ready to help and support. I was awed on how he took up the discussion and took his time to give me ideas on creating contents around my niche. I learnt few lessons from our discussion. 📌Be intentional and ensure consistency on LinkedIn. In consistency lies the power. 📌Niche down, let people know you for what you do. 📌Create a content calender to guide you in giving out a valuable content. 📌Create a catchy headline/ Hook that will Hook your audience to stay glue to your contents. 📌Share practical experience from your expertise using the art of story telling and all. 📌Ensure you get your profile well optimized. I really learnt a lot from the dinner time, despite I was on night duty and very busy. ♻️♻️♻️♻️P.S:. Never ever underestimate the power of building meaningful connections here on LinkedIn. I have tasted it and definitely sweet. ✅️✅️Do you also resonates with this lessons I learnt?????? The meeting of many great minds! Aastrika Foundation was honoured to be invited to Societal Thinking’s meetup, held in Mysore, from 20th to 22nd February! We engaged in several heady conversations and discussions with various audiences, on subjects ranging from philanthropy, how scale emerges, Digital Public Infrastructure, social security, and many more. The event brought together several showcases of different organisations’ work. We were delighted to learn about and from the experiences of other organisations working in the healthcare sector as well as other domain areas. Ms Anoushaka Chandrashekar, Manager - Advocacy at Aastrika Foundation presented Aastrika Foundation as one of the showcases. She spoke about what happens in the labour rooms in different settings, across the country. She also highlighted the initiatives of Aastrika Foundation and how we are applying the principles of Societal Thinking in our work. The audience was very engaged and had several questions as well as appreciation for our work. We left with better ideas, fruitful companionships and a greater desire towards progress! We wholeheartedly thank Societal Thinking for the opportunity and eagerly look forward to many more such events! 🔑 We would like to share with you a few sessions and their takeaways that came from this year’s EBAN Annual Congress. Today we would like to showcase our premiere session on “Pregnancy, Parenthood, and Terms Sheets: A New Paradigm for Investors” featuring our vice president Selma Prodanovic🎤 Prodanovic, Daniela Haunstein from invest.austria, Ekaterina Gianelli and Lucanus ⛵️ Polagnoli from Calm/Storm, and Ana Pashalishvili from UN Women Europe and Central Asia. This workshop was created to start the conversation on the issues startup founders come across when wanting to start a family and the biases that investors face when investing in these entrepreneurs. Here are some of the main topics that were discussed during this discussion: 💠 Though life-altering events are uncommon angel investors need to prepare themselves and the startups they are working with for these occasions. Communicating these potential events through the terms sheets can help better prepare both parties in case something were to happen and how to move forward when it does. 💠Conversely, pregnancy is one of these life-altering events which became the main topics surrounding this panel. In the discussion, the panelists and audience members would go over the perceptions of risk caring for a baby to term may have for the startup. It was agreed upon that these inherent biases were false yet the notion still persists within certain cultures which makes it more difficult for women to make these decisions. 💠However this burden should not be only for the person carrying the child to bear. Early parenthood and the division of care between parents are integral to how well a founder can manage their work-life balance. Audience members would give differing examples from their respective countries going over access to support during the early phases of a child's development. 💠Most importantly, however, this workshop has opened the door to a dialogue within the audience in order to see what the best practices we can take away from different regions of Europe. There is no one answer that solves all, but it is important to start understanding the best methods and practices angel investors can use to reduce the biases and inherent risks that these life-altering events can bring. If you would like to read more on this session you can check out our latest article on the workshop on our website here: https://lnkd.in/e5zY3Puu If you enjoyed learning about this session and want to experience more like it then come join the 🇪🇺 European Summit October 15 - 16 and take part of more in in-depth discussions on key issues angel investors are facing today Join here: https://lnkd.in/dfRpwmv

I'm now a pro with Rayyan software, have screened thousands of papers and now have emerging themes. - Phase 2 - I'm aiming to submit ethics approval by Easter, with the aim of having interviews with social workers taking place over the summer/early autumn. So, if you're part of a fostering, adoption or pregnancy loss organisation (Local Authorities, NHS services, private or charity/third sector) and are interested in learning more and/or collaborating, please drop me an email at a.tasker@keele.ac.uk There is no cost to organisations to be involved.
