New research published on infertility-related trauma 🛈 We were concerned to read the new research published today by Fertility Network UK, that infertility-related trauma, including miscarriage, is more common than previously recognised. Speaking of the results of this research, Lead Researcher Dr Sofia Gameiro explained, “The research suggests there are specific reproductive and treatment events that are most associated with traumatic experiences, such as one or more unsuccessful IVF cycles, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage and baby loss, complicated birth, stillbirth and unsuccessful fertility treatment as a whole.” We will continue to push for better care for those affected by pregnancy loss. "I’m a talker, I talk about everything... That was one thing I couldn’t talk about for about five years; it was so odd, I could not speak about it." Victoria Derbyshire has shared her experience of her miscarriage on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast. She describes how difficult she found talking about what she went through, and how she feels about her loss in retrospect. Thank you to Victoria for sharing her story, helping others to feel less alone in what they're going through, and to Happy Mum Happy Baby for providing a safe space for this important conversation. "While I no longer feel as sad, angry, disappointed, envious or hopeless as I did three years ago when a scan revealed my baby’s heart had stopped beating, I’m still grieving. The first time I went past the park where I walked daily while waiting for nature to take its course, I burst into tears." Thank you to Seetal Savla for sharing her experiences in Stylist Magazine, along with what she's learnt along the way. You can read her full article here: https://lnkd.in/e5S97PCn Whether you've just experienced a loss, or you're navigating pregnancy after loss, we're here for you.
