⭐️ https://lnkd.in/eHiPmdKR ⭐️ In this systematic review, we investigated research literature evaluating the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions focusing on participation and performance in occupations related to paid and unpaid employment and education for people with serious mental illness. The review included occupation and activity-based interventions and interventions addressing performance skills, aspects of the environment, activity demands, and client factors. The results indicate that strong evidence exists for the effectiveness of supported employment using individual placement and support to result in competitive employment.

Hi Linkedin network! During my Fall semester of 2022, I worked to complete a Rehabilitation Portfolio to design and compose a single resource for material that is useful to know for specific settings for occupational therapy, such as acute care. My occupation-based practice class for adults who present with physical impairments during the Fall semester 2022 helped to assist in my development of the resource as the information I included I learned during that course. Certain topics that are present in the portfolio include vitals, monitoring and understanding lab values, interventions for specific conditions, line management, GG codes, AMPAC scores and much more. This resource was a great way to review my knowledge prior to beginning my acute care fieldwork as well as a resource to use during my fieldwork to help me better learn as a student. The portfolio is separated into differing sections to help better locate information. This resource was a great way to test my knowledge and have everything in one place to quickly locate information. I completed the final draft of the portfolio on November 22nd, 2022.

POTS is often caused by an inciting incident such as a concussion or viral injury, is more common in neurodivergent individuals, and frequently presents with several co-occurring conditions, making it especially relevant for occupational therapy professionals (Goodman, 2018). Canadian occupational therapists have an opportunity to fill a gap in care for these clients as they seek to adapt and maintain or increase function in daily activities. Register for our webinar presented by Emily Rich on June 4, 2024 to increase your understanding of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), appropriate assessment tools, and the occupational therapy role- https://buff.ly/4a6gyy0

【Item-Level Analysis of the Revised Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Performance Evaluation Applied in Practice】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gQ9TFdJx (Authored by Cynthia L. Sears, et al., from Hawai'i Pacific University (USA), etc.) Despite the clear necessity of practice-based learning opportunities, research across various health professions reveals numerous challenges and difficulties in assessing students' clinical competencies during rotations in authentic practice environments. This study uses Rasch methods to explore the use of the revised Fieldwork Performance Evaluation (FWPE) in actual fieldwork practice and determines the instrument's psychometric properties when separating the item components into two distinct subdomains: General Health Professions Competences and #Occupational_Therapy-Specific Competencies. #Rehabilitation #Measurement

If you haven't heard, It's an #OccupationalTherapy MONTH! And I just got off a fun call with my friend and colleague at OncoLink to chat about it. I wanted to answer one of the first questions I am always asked and the one that may plague our profession as we try to cover all the amazing things we do. What is Occupational Therapy? 🎉 The best-kept secret of all professions ( I AM biased.) It’s less about WHAT it is as a profession and more about how we are trained to THINK and look at the interdependence of our lived experience. I would bet that almost everyone has worked with an OTP, or been influenced by an OTP at some point, in some industry, and you didn’t even know it. We help untangle the breakdown that occurs when personal factors, environmental factors, and task-specific factors don’t align, helping achieve the goals that are most important to YOU, not us. Here is to all the OTPs I know, and cheers ya'll.
