Preparing for a new session as an early years educator involves a mix of practical, emotional, and organizational tasks to ensure a smooth transition for both you and the children. Here is something to consider: # Reflect on the Previous Session: Take some time to reflect on what went well and what could be improved from the previous session. Use this reflection to inform your plans for the new session. # Review Curriculum and Goals: Familiarize yourself with the curriculum requirements and any specific learning goals you want to achieve during the new session. @EarlyYearseducators

Thanks for sharing Rachel Musson. The 'evolution not revolution' mantra is understandable in one sense, but only if one buys into the narrative that teachers and schools don't want too much dispruption. I'm not sure that's true, because - like you say - there are inspiring examples of schools educating differently already, they're part of the organic process of change to the education system that is always going on (hopefully the Gov's insistence that all schools follow the National Curriculum won't hinder that process too much as Jennifer Brandsberg-Engelmann has pointed out). Support for a revolution in education is probably greater than DfE would like to admit. Hopefully over the course of these roadshow events, through the call for evidence and as a result of the school visits that Francis and her team will be doing, they will recognise this and be emboldened to make strong recommendations (not just tweaks). If they reach that point, it might open the door to the creation - through the reforms that happen as a result of this review - of a stepping stone to the (in the words of Kate Greer and colleagues) "ecologically- (not economically-) centred" education system that's needed. Myself and Global Action Plan colleagues are going along to some of the roadshow events (I'm in London for the Nov 4th one). We'll report back. Having just come out of a 3 hour consultation gathering as part of the Department for Education's Curriculum & Assessment review, I'm currently struggling to find the word for how I'm feeling, which is a combination of utterly disillusioned and hugely energised... 🙃 #Education #NationalCurriculum #Learning #EducationSystem #Teachers #SystemsChange #Transformation #LearningForLife #TripleWellBeing (NB: In the video I reference the parable of The Blind Men and the Elephant: https://lnkd.in/eVavW296)

There's always a lot going on in education. With the wider curriculum review that has been undertaken, I know that schools will be trying to pre-empt what changes, if any, will be required in the near future. But what are the things that are important to you when it comes to planning and delivering a curriculum that works for your children? I do a lot of work with Clive Davies and Focus Education on their Learning Challenge Curriculum. We know that there is an element of uncertainty around what may come next. But what we are certain of, is that as far as the wider curriculum goes, we've got a set of resources that are fully adaptable and work really well to support schools who want to deliver not just a good curriculum, but a great one. If your interested to find out more, I've recorded a short clip here: https://lnkd.in/eKpKQAVq And if you are interested in the work I do with schools, feel free to get in touch. I love putting clips together. The Learning Challenge Curriculum really is worth a look if you're working on your wider curriculum. I was working on it yesterday with two different schools in Runcorn, and both heads commented on the fact that they chose it because of the pedagogy behind it and the fact that it can be developed further around your school. If you are interested in the work I do with schools, feel free to get in touch. Always happy to chat! #education #leadershipdevelopment #teachingandlearning #developingpedagogy #curriculumdevelopment
