Much of the media is celebrating the decrease in officers who have died in the line of duty in 2023. However, a closer look at the data shows a 14% increase in the number of officers shot in the line of duty, which is a staggering 378 officers. This increase highlights the growing trend of violent engagement on law enforcement, which I have been warning about for some time.
As a society, we need to recognize that the "defund the police" movement and rhetoric have had a significant impact on the way some members of the community engage with law enforcement. It is concerning that no other profession has been scrutinized as much as law enforcement. This, coupled with the dangers of the job, is leading to recruiting problems.
We need to have an honest conversation about how we can support our law enforcement officers and address the root causes of this trend.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund today reported that 136 officers in the U.S. died in the line of duty in 2023. That is the solemn and bad news. It was encouraging to see, though, that this number is 39% lower than the 224 officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2022. Gunfire was the number one cause of death among officers (47), followed by job-related illnesses (40), and traffic-related incidents (37). This annual report is a stark reminder that, on average over the past decade, a law enforcement dies in the line of duty every 36 hours. https://lnkd.in/eK_6BQ7J#behindbadge#police#lawenforcement#officerdown#fallenheroes

The recent indictment of the Uvalde Police Chief serves as a stark reminder that failing to act in critical moments can have grave consequences. In times of crisis, the responsibility to protect and serve our communities is paramount. This case underscores the importance of accountability and the duty of law enforcement to take decisive action to prevent tragedies.
Let this be a lesson that inaction is not an option when lives are at stake.
We must strive for a future where every officer is prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in the face of danger.
Our hearts remain with the victims and their families as we continue to seek justice and ensure such failures are never repeated.

Average Officers killed per year during:
Trump years 2016-2019 is 179. BIden years 2020-2022 is 421 officers killed per year.
Protect our police! Stop voting Democrat.
This lack of accountability gives Criminal Justice Reform a black eye. We brag about the reduction in crime but ignore the abhorrent lack of prosecution of violent offenders in Fairfax. Victims of violent crime continue to be ignored in Fairfax and we can no longer ignore this dangerous trend. When will it end?

A good #Officer and a good man was taken from this world by a criminal with an extensive criminal history. Officer Mohamed Said, only 23-years old, was investigating a suspicious person and checking to see if the individual needed help when the suspect ran and the confrontation occurred that caused Officer Said his life.
No matter what the politicians, media, activist, “progressives”, and unfortunately some Law Enforcement “Leaders” say, there is a War On Cops. Law Enforcement Officers are being assaulted and shot at the highest rate in years and #Officers are dying from these attacks. In order to stop this War On Cops, we must bring the fight to the #criminals. We need proactive, assertive, and lawful enforcement operations, we need proper resources and equipment, we need a coordinate effort between Law Enforcement Agencies on all levels as well as the prosecutors, and we need to fight to change the criminal justice system so that it holds criminals accountable again for their crimes and serves its mission to protect the law abiding members of the community.
Most all, what we need to battle this War On #Cops is strong, effective, and brave Law Enforcement Leaders. We need Leander’s who will lead using by principal not by optics. We need Leaders who will stand up to politicians and speak the hard truths to them. We need Leaders who can make decisions themselves and not rely on the lawyers or politicians to make their decisions. We need Leaders to stand up with their Officers and support them fully when they are in the right. We need Leaders who will promote the best people not those that will make their department photos look good. We need Leaders to fight to fix the criminal Justice system the activists have broken. We need Leaders that will push proactive, assertive, and lawful #policing and speak against the de-policing trend that is occurring in the profession. We need leaders that will speak the truth to the public and the media about what dangers Officers are facing on the streets each day and the effects of crime on the community.
In a world and profession were conformity, careerism, and caution has unfortunately replaced daring, selfless service, and innovation, due such leaders still exist?
