Putting lived experience at the heart of events about health and social care is vital. It promotes social justice, fosters understanding, and unlocks ideas that can improve care and support for everyone. We want to see more people with lived experience at events. That's why we worked with #SocialCareFuture and In Control to produce these two resources. They bring together: 💬 Research into inclusive event planning 🛠️ A practical toolkit for event organisers The research highlights key barriers that can prevent people with lived experience from fully participating in events, and the toolkit shares guidance on how we can overcome those barriers and put lived experience front and centre. Explore these resources and share them with one person who you think would find them useful. https://lnkd.in/dCdMDkM7

🌟 It's Election Day! 🌟 Your voice matters, just like your wellness journey. Taking the time to vote is a powerful way to invest in your community, just as investing in your health is a way to empower yourself. We understand that everyone's path to wellness looks different, and the same goes for participating in civic engagement. Whether you’ve already voted, plan to visit the polls today, or are helping others get there, you’re making a difference. 🙌 As a community, we stand for respect, understanding, and the belief that each step forward counts—whether it's a step toward your health goals or toward shaping the future you believe in. 🗳️ Make your plan to vote, stay hydrated, and remember that progress is made one step (or one ballot) at a time!

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? At Care City, community engagement is the foundation of everything we do—from shaping our projects to evaluating their impact. Central to this is our Community Board https://lnkd.in/eEkaaeBK, made up of local residents with diverse experiences. Their role? To act as ambassadors, advisors and a guiding voice to keep us focused on equity, fairness and the needs of our community. Their insights actively shape our work, including advising on the use of our linked health and care data set, the Care City Cohort https://lnkd.in/gn4DyXd8. Beyond the board, we involve community members in focus groups and workshops https://lnkd.in/eMvWDT8a, ensuring their voices are heard at every stage of our work. People bring their lived experiences—whether as service users, carers, family members or active residents—to help us: • Understand challenges in health and care services. • Think creatively about solutions. • Share real-life examples of what works (and what doesn’t). • Evaluate the impact of our projects. By working closely with communities, we ensure our work reflects real needs and delivers meaningful outcomes. But we know we’re not alone in striving for this. So, we’d love to learn from you: • How do you engage community members to shape your work? • What’s worked well for your focus groups or boards? • How do you amplify community voices in decision-making? Let’s share ideas to strengthen and inspire each other. 🎉 It's International “What Matters to You?” Day. This international day of celebration aims to encourage and support more meaningful conversations between caregivers who provide health and social care (including family caregivers) and those they are or will care for in the future. Historically, we often asked people “What’s the matter with you?” using a clinical-based approach. But it is much more powerful to ask “What matters to you?” adopting a values-based approach to care. While the first question seeks health context, the second provides an opportunity for meaningful conversations between an individual and those who provide care as a healthcare provider or family caregiver. International 'What Matters to You Day' is so important as it encourages people to reflect on what truly matters to them and to share those insights with others. It promotes open communication, empathy and understanding, fostering stronger connections within communities and among individuals. Take some time to reflect and think about what matters to you and to those around you this week, whether in your role at work or at home. 💙
