https://lnkd.in/dsAmwgx2 Let’s explore agrivoltaics, which combines solar panels and farming on the same land. By raising solar panels a few feet above the ground, farmers can grow crops underneath them. This dual-use approach optimizes land efficiency and benefits both food production and energy generation. Here are some key points: 1. What is Agrivoltaics? Agrivoltaics, also known as dual-use solar, involves installing solar panels above farmland. The panels are raised to allow sunlight for crops while generating solar energy. 2. Benefits: Increased Crop Yield: Agrivoltaic systems optimize sunlight exposure for plants, potentially leading to better crop yields. Water Efficiency: Panels prevent excess sunlight, reducing water needs for crops. Land Utilization: Dual-use land preserves arable space for agriculture while generating clean energy. 3. Challenges: Design Considerations: Proper panel placement and spacing are crucial to balance energy production and crop growth. Maintenance: Managing vegetation and ensuring compatibility between solar panels and farming practices. In summary, agrivoltaics offers a greener way to farm by combining solar energy and food production on the same land. #Agrivoltaics #SolarFarming #DualUseLand #CleanEnergy #SustainableAgriculture 🌱🌞

How can we bring farmers into the Green Deal? That is one of the most pertinent political questions for Europe today. Agrisolar is a very important part of that puzzle. Discover more here👇!

#Agriculture is a fundamental human activity, but today it accounts for 11-12% of total global greenhouse gas emissions. However this doesn't include though the positive net off due to agriculture being a #CarbonSink in terms of soil carbon sequestration, biomass production and ecosystem restoration. With advanced tech, #decarbonization of agriculture is on the horizon with precision agriculture, regenerative practices, livestock management, agroforestry, reforestation and use of renewable power. Checkout my detailed article in The Hindu businessline on how agriculture can be a part of the #netzero solution !

This week marks #EUGreenWeek 🌍 This year's campaign aims to stimulate an EU-wide conversation around water today and in the future. 💧 Did you know that #agrisolar can play a significant role in reducing water usage in farming? A great example is Amarenco's solar greenhouses in France, where the shading of the greenhouses reduces the need for water by 20-30% due to reduced evaporation. In addition to this, the crops are protected from a heavy frost experienced during winter. Check out more examples in SolarPower Europe's Agrisolar Best Practice Guidelines, and view our digital map to see where agrisolar projects are located across Europe 👉 https://lnkd.in/eUv5QBQS

Carbon Farming succeeds when the carbon gains resulting from improved management of the soil-plant system exceed the carbon losses from the same unit of area. This agriculture provides biomass (food and fiber) and environmental services that can be measured, recorded, and sold as Valuable carbon certificates. in the picture: Corn is grown on soil covered with the remains of winter cover crops. 🌱 Unlocking the Potential of Biosaline Agriculture 🌍 At Sand to Green, we're continuously pushing the boundaries of sustainable farming, even in the harshest environments. One of our recent successes in agriculture biosaline is a project in partnership with OSMOSUN® and The Salt Doctors, where we’ve been using brine with a salinity of 15g/L from our desalination machines to irrigate carefully selected halophyte species. 📸 The results after just 4 months are astounding! The photo below shows the remarkable biomass growth we’ve achieved, thanks to: 🔹 Soil preparation and amendement 🔹 Selection of the best salt-tolerant plants 🔹 A custom agroforestry model designed to maximize biomass This approach not only supports healthy plant growth but also helps in salt management. The biomass we produce stores the salt and is then harvested for uses such as animal fodder, contributing to sustainability and resource efficiency in arid regions, while extracting salt from the system. Biosaline agriculture offers immense potential for food security and ecosystem regeneration in saline-affected landscapes. We're excited to be at the forefront of these innovations! #biosalineagriculture #brinemanagement #agriculture #agroforestry #desalination

How do we protect agriculture and farmland as we rapidly expand our solar energy supply across the country? Grading a solar site can scrape off all the topsoil, disrupting its natural state and potentially damaging it for agriculture. By using Nevados solar trackers, you can build your solar and keep your topsoil too! This will be essential in the growing “agrivoltaics” sector, which finds creative strategies to pair solar sites with agricultural uses. It’s also why we’ve partnered with Priefert to manufacture our products. As “America’s number 1 name in ranching and rodeo,” farming is in their DNA. Our shared values made them the perfect fit to manufacture our innovative products here in the U.S., using American-made steel. #NoGrading #TheWorldIsNotFlat #Agrivoltaics #topsoil #solartracker
