"Having an efficient and effective security system is crucial for ensuring readiness and supporting modernization efforts." During this year's BEYA event, AMC aims to fill over 350 civilian roles across 95 sites nationwide, offering both on-site and virtual interviews. Previously, the essential background checks for national security have hindered the pace of bringing in new talent at these gatherings. However, the introduction of the Rocket Vetting for Rapid Hiring pilot program promises to expedite these checks for qualified candidates, allowing the Army to extend job offers at rates comparable to those of its peers in the industry. When I was hired at Intel back in 2015, my organization had a very unique hiring process that I have come to appreciate and understand much more over the years. Onsite interviews used to start with a presentation round. The candidate would bring in a presentation about anything of their choosing, and present to the room full of highly skilled intel employees. There was time for question answers in group setting as well. This was followed by 1:1. I know this is nerve wrecking but it gave a chance to the candidate to shine. If one plans, they can use this round to demonstrate their expertise and communication skills. But this round helps the organization as well. I now see this round as the grounding round for the group. This allows the hiring group to see the same material and listen in on the questions and answers on the presentation. I feel this round was pivotal in reducing biases. The other major factor was that this also allowed the candidate to recruit an advocate in the decision room who had some shared context. #decisionmaking #biases #interviews

I hired a candidate with a *9-Month* EMPLOYMENT gap. They were talented and cleared all rounds of the interview and tests. When I Asked if they had any questions, the candidate said, "Why didn't you grill me more about my employment gap?" I Simply replied, "Being on both sides of the interview process gave me a different perspective. Life is unpredictable. My primary focus is on your skills and attitude towards the job. Someone took a chance on me, so I am willing to take a chance on you." Over the years, I have learned that if you want the best talent, stop looking for perfection. It doesn't exist! RESUMES don't perform jobs. PEOPLE do - so hire PEOPLE, not RESUMES. PS: This post is just for awareness. I've worked with near about 4 companies before starting NexTech, and I know how people treat you when they see a career gap. Last month, we welcomed a new team member who, at 50, had never worked before In the interview: Me: "Any work experience?" Her: "No, tried many times but never got a job." Me: "Why should we hire you?" Her: "I've always wanted to work, but my family didn't support me. Now I want to stand on my own.
