And here U go 👏 👏 👏 #NOAA GOES-U 🛰️🚀 Satellite launch is a success 🙌. Congrats NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, SpaceX, for a beautiful launch of this 🆕🔝 #Science & #Technology Marvel joining soon the Global Geo-ring of Geostationary #Satellites. #NOAA’s GOES-U is the fourth and final satellite in the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) – R Series, the Western Hemisphere’s most sophisticated #weather-observing and #environmental monitoring system. The GOES-R Series provides advanced imagery and atmospheric measurements, real-time mapping of lightning activity, and space weather observations. Billions of lives depend on accurate #weather forecasting especially for the #extremes associated with our changing #climate. This is everyone‘s success and surely a news we receive with joy and excitement at the World Meteorological Organization! Go GOES-U 🤩 Read more about it here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ervkwhnD
NOAA’s latest geostationary satellite, GOES-U, is heading to orbit! This historic mission will track weather for most of the Western Hemisphere and carry the first operational solar coronagraph on a GOES satellite. www.bit.ly/45EGOym

Houston, a new wave of methane detection is here! 🛰️ The Tanager-1 methane detecting satellite is set to launch as a part of SpaceX's larger Transporter-11 mission. You can access the livestream here: https://bit.ly/3X84YyG This will allow us to better visualize a largely unseen problem — methane and CO2 super-emitters. As humanity hurtles towards an uncertain future, one thing remains certain to our team at SkyTruth: If you can see it, you CAN change it. Carbon Mapper will incorporate Tanager-1 data into its portal, which already hosts at least 15,000 methane observations from around the globe. Visible – and publicly accessible – methane data plays a vital role in shaping how policymakers, governments, community members, and industry leaders will take action against global super-emitters in the coming years. The recently launched Tanager-1 satellite from Carbon Mapper and partners Planet and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory can pinpoint emissions at or within individual facilities, an exciting milestone for advanced methane emissions monitoring. In addition to providing freely available data for platforms like RMI’s Oil Climate Index plus Gas (OCI+) to determine real-world oil and gas emissions, this and upcoming Carbon Mapper Coalition satellites contribute to a growing system of visibility tools that help spot and stop methane leakage before it causes significant climate damage. 🚀 Last month, NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s newest geostationary satellite, GOES-19 successfully reached orbit. GOES-19 will provide data on weather patterns, environmental hazards, and ocean conditions across North and South America. At Fathom Science, we are particularly excited about the ocean data this satellite will collect. The continuous stream of observations from GOES-19 will further enhance our ocean data products and serve as valuable validation. #GOES19 #oceandata #blueeconomy See more about GOES-19 here: https://lnkd.in/eXtpztdT Image credit SpaceX
