Unpopular opinion on copywriting assignments I have lost count of the assignments I’ve completed just to land one job. Some of my assignments were indeed used in campaigns without my knowledge, which I discovered later… While others helped me make a mark! I’m glad that a few people are now breaking the cycle and introducing assignments that focus on measuring creative ability rather than exploiting creative output. But I know that no matter how refined your portfolio is, and no matter your position, You will always have to complete some sort of assignment to prove your mettle. Creativity is subjective. And organizations have different creative cultures. So, it’s best to give them a piece of what you can do in your own style. Question: What’s the hiring process in your industry?
