At the Taftie Annual Conference in Bern, about 80 participants discussed how funding agencies can support social innovation - either alone or as part of technology-based innovation. TAFTIE members and invited experts shared their thoughts on the challenges we face in supporting social innovation and how we can make the most of its potential. 💪 With concrete examples of promotion, the TAFTIE members gained an insight into supported social innovations. They learned from innovators what they need to realise their social innovations. Thank you very much for your contribution! Facilitator, community builder, and change-maker. Anthropologist. Passionate about socio and environmental justice and co-creating a regenerative culture.
🌍 Exciting news: I'll join the Gathering Of Tribes in Portugal from September 11th to 15th! This event brings together regenerative entrepreneurs, change-makers, activists, and community builders across ecosystems for a co-created experience where we connect, learn from each other, and build community across different initiatives. Initially, I had some reservations (the use of "tribes" did raise a few questions...). However, this event genuinely seems to be a space where regenerators want to share, learn, and remember that we’re working towards the same goals and cooperation is the way. 🤝🌱 As part of my participation, I’ve chosen to join Claudia Marras at the CoPartnerUp camp, where I’ll be offering workshops on facilitation, to help participants enhance their power to foster collaboration and co-creation in their teams. I was drawn to this camp because of its focus on fostering meaningful collaborations and partnerships—areas that are deeply aligned with my work at Moving Mindsets Facilitation. 💬✨ ⚡️ My intention in joining the Gathering goes beyond simply connecting and collaborating. By co-creating a global community of changemakers and facilitators, we can contribute to building a culture of care, genuine transformation, and collective liberation—all while recognizing the deep disparities that exist in our world, perpetuated by structural barriers and systems of oppression. This collaborative (and often privileged) work must aim not only for greater equity but also for dismantling the oppressive structures that continue to perpetuate injustice. ✊ 📣 If you're coming or want to know more about the Gathering (or join me at CoPartnerUp camp), feel free to message me! Let’s connect, share ideas, and work together towards collective liberation and a culture of care for ourselves, each other, and the planet. 🌿❤️ #GatheringOfTribes #Regeneration #CoCreation #Facilitation #Collaboration #CollectiveLiberation #Care #SocialJustice #Sustainability #Changemakers

Technologist | Investor | Venture Capitalist | Board Director | Operating Partner | Trustee - CDO / CIO / CTO with a passion for Digital & Tech Transformation and helping innovative founders grow!
Wow! What a week! I had the privilege of delivering the keynote at the WSA 2024 Global Congress in beautiful Patagonia, Chile. The WSA celebrates innovators delivering positive social impact by harnessing the power of technology to drive towards the United Nations SDGs. It was inspirational to hear how people around the world are tackling environmental problems, building social cohesion, and reimagining impact investing to literally make the world a better place. Congratulations to the 40 winners who were celebrate at the event. I encourage you all to learn more about their amazing work, which covers everything from improving sanitation in rural villages in the Global South to using AI to learn and remember ancient languages that are in danger of becoming extinct. Thanks again to Prof. Dr. Peter A. Bruck, Nora Wolloch, and the entire WSA board for inviting me to participate in this amazing event. My keynote had a strong message: "governments alone will not solve the increasingly challenging problems that humanity faces - the charge will be led by innovators and social entrepreneurs who find a way to solve issues while creating sustainable businesses." Like all founders, these innovators need support, advice, and funding to realize their potential. So, I was grateful for the opportunity to share some details of the work that Adam Maddock and I are doing in this field… We will soon launch VentureForge, an innovative nonprofit with a mission to help founders forge their ideas into impact, leveraging a proprietary digital platform and global community. Stay tuned for more on this soon! 😎 #WSA #UnitedNations #SDGs #innovation #impact #socialenterprise #impactinvesting

🚀 Excited to share that the UNIDO Regional Conference: "Connecting for Development – Innovating for Impact" will be taking place in Vienna, Austria, from June 3-7, 2024! 🌍💡 Organized by the UNIDO Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia, this event aims to foster innovation, sustainability, and climate action through networking and partnerships among European businesses and UNIDO-supported start-ups worldwide. Key participants will include both UNIDO Member States such as Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania, as well as non-Member States like Estonia, Greece, and Latvia. One of the key highlights of the event is the Cleantech Days 2024, spearheaded by the UNIDO Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Building on the success of the inaugural Cleantech Days in 2023, this year’s forum will focus on scaling up clean technology start-ups and SMEs from 16 countries. It’s a prime opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their impactful solutions and connect with businesses, financiers, and investors. The event will kick off on June 3-4 with thematic discussions and partnership-building activities, followed by dedicated sessions for UNIDO-supported start-ups from June 5-7. These sessions will include solution presentations, pitching, and extensive networking opportunities. 🌟 Panel Discussion 3: Public-Private Development Partnerships on the 4th of June 🌟 One of the key sessions to look forward to is the panel discussion on effective public-private partnerships for global development and the 2030 Agenda. We’re thrilled to have Daniel Dumitrescu, PhD., Chief Innovation Officer at InnovX, as a speaker. His insights will be invaluable in understanding how such partnerships can drive sustainable industrial growth. This joint event is set to be a cornerstone for sustainable industrial growth and global development cooperation. There’s a lot of talk about systems transformation these days but what do we really mean? And what happens when we place equity right at the centre of how we do this? Over the last two years we have been collaborating with Place Matters (UK), Inspiring Communities (Aotearoa / NZ), Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement (Canada), on the ‘how’ part of creating systems that are more equitable. We share and celebrate what is unique in each of our contexts and what is common between us. Last year we wrote up some of this learning in a paper about how we see the work of ‘centring equity’. Recently our CEO, Anna Powell, spoke alongside our international partners at the US based Collective Impact Action Summit conference. Together they emphasised the importance of going beyond the big words and simple frameworks and working with the messiness of changing human systems. Key take-outs from the conversation: ✴️ Equity is a way of being, not just doing. ✴️ We all have a role to play in harnessing our influence for a greater purpose: this is not about vacating responsibility for others or future generations. ✴️ It is about community AND other systems. It cannot be only up to communities to be the focus of change. This is not enough to meet the demands and opportunities of our time. ✴️ Equity is about wholeness: with ourselves, with our ancestral lines, with each other, and with nature. ✴️ This is about attending to both the practice and the structures: for example, how we govern or how we democratise data - it’s the structures, policies and how we show up in this work that needs to be equitable and inclusive. ✴️ This is ultimately about bringing the human back into social change. The frameworks, processes, tools and answers should not overshadow the heart and truth of the work we all need to do. Happy news! 🎉 My (first) research paper on Corporate Social Innovation in Multinationals just got published in International Business Review. Cheers to fellow co-authors for the great collaboration and many insights and learnings shared, and special thanks to Prof Dr Ayse Saka-Helmhout for all the trust and guidance. It's been a fun three years working together! 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: • MNEs aim to meet societal needs through CSI initiatives that generate both economic value for the firm and society • CSI initiatives cover key SDG objectives, mobilizing MNE organizational capabilities to address social problems • CSI is triggered by social activists addressing deficiencies in local institutions and seeking to develop market opportunities • The CSI innovation process involves multiple stages from the identification of a challenge to framing the innovation • CSI has, to date, led to little systems change but is more successful through an active engagement with institutions 👉🏻 Check out our open access publication here https://lnkd.in/d7F9EVmv #corporatesocialinnovation #research #impact #multinationals #sharedvalue #openaccess
