New standards for sustainable building materials. Climate change necessitates architecture and construction industry shift towards sustainable development, design changes, planning innovations, and net zero goals to minimize environmental impacts. In the increasingly severe context of climate change, shifting the architecture and construction industry towards sustainable development is not just an option but has become an urgent requirement. This not only demands changes in design and planning but also requires innovation in building materials, emphasizing the importance of the net zero goal in minimizing negative impacts on the environment. This has become an urgent task, requiring the search for and application of environmentally friendly building materials, reducing CO2 emissions, and enhancing energy efficiency. Currently, the market has introduced many sustainable building materials, among which materials sourced from wood not only offer high technical efficiency but also contribute positively to reducing environmental impact, thanks to their renewable nature and carbon absorption capabilities. https://lnkd.in/ggtR9zHU

“What’s the embodied carbon?” is an important question for specifiers to ask about building materials and products – even if it’s far from a simple one to answer. In The Concrete Centre summer issue of Concrete Quarterly, director of architecture and sustainable design Elaine Toogood takes a look at why UK sector environmental product declarations (EPDs) might be the best reflection of local progress in decarbonisation. Produced by pooling data from a number of manufacturers, these collective EPDs are also useful for benchmarking to inform early-stage design decisions. Not only will bigger, better data lead to greater clarity, but ultimately greater impact in terms of carbon reduction. Read Elaine’s piece in full. https://lnkd.in/eMJ2SxV5 #concrete #carbon

Sustainable construction is not just a fashionable word, but a specific way to a better tomorrow! ✅ Construction is not only about creating beautiful architecture, it is also about responsibility for our planet. Did you know that buildings are responsible for more than a third of global CO2 emissions? That's a lot, isn't it? However, it's not just their use, but also the construction process that affects our ecosystem. The construction industry is fortunately changing for the better. This is because more and more companies, such as Aluprof, Europe's leader in various aluminium systems, are focusing on sustainability. And in the most general terms, sustainability is simply taking care of the planet! 🌍 ♻️ At Aluprof, we make sure that our products are not only energy-efficient but also environmentally friendly. Aluminium, the main component of many of our developments, is extremely environmentally friendly. It can be recycled many times, which reduces our carbon footprint. This allows our company to focus on creating building systems that are lightweight, strong and, of course, planet-friendly.
