With the promotion of Lars Johnson to Chief Technology Officer, Merit Controls aims to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of utility-scale power plants and energy storage systems. Where we are headed under Lars' leadership.
1. What should Merit Control customers expect in the near future?
My promotion aligns with Merit Controls' unwavering dedication to maintaining our position as a market leader in grid integration compliance and control. We are developing innovative features to our Storage EMS, securing patents to build out our patent portfolio, support quality execution, and leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance the quality and productivity of our product offering.
2. What is your focus in 2024?
My focus is on driving innovation, technical excellence and quality assurance for our growing customer base. I'm integrating our technology development efforts to enable our growing team of talented engineers across the organization.
3. What did you do at Merit Controls before the promotion?
As an enterprise architect, I was instrumental in the success of several key technologies, especially implementation of the block controller and improved emulation capabilities for our FAT. I aim to bring this same level of excellence to my new role.
4. How would you describe yourself?
I am an engineer’s engineer with experience deploying various control systems for solar and energy storage projects. As a communication and control systems application engineer with 25 years in the business, my principle engineering strengths include the design, development, test, and analysis of utility-scale power plants.
