one thing that always let me know I was a good General Manager was when my District Manager and my Regional Manager would wanna have sit down meetings with me and say what can we do to make you happy and satisfied and make sure you won't leave us we will do whatever it takes because we need more "RiRi's" Rihanna like you your an out going employee and does whatever it takes to get the job done your definitely one of the best I was given a raise of the amount I requested they would brag to other Districts about me saying how I would go from my store to other stores that had no GM or AM and get it back into shape quickly like deep cleaning if needed and the proper way of training employees the correct way on how to do their jobs some employees had to be terminated but were replaced and then I started working on getting the sales back up and at times even higher then the sales were before I was even sent to stores where the whole entire crew walked out because their General Manager quit so I hired a completely new crew and trained them all the proper way then we had to heavily deep clean the store then work on drastically increasing store sells while serving the customers all at the same time and yes there were times when I ran the store by myself but I never complained because that was my decision that's what I wanted to do I am so proud I have my mother's work ethic... I'm in the process of hiring a new GM for our restaurant. Reflecting on our previous hire, it's apparent that setting clear expectations and addressing key issues upfront in the contract are crucial. I've learned valuable (expensive!) lessons and would love insights from others on the most important duties and expectations to include in an employment agreement for a restaurant GM. Post Expo seems like a great time for this. Allow me to reintroduce myself...my name is Wade Yenny, and I'm looking for my next professional opportunity/journey. Born and raised in Ohio, I spent the first part of my career in the restaurant business. Starting as a short order cook in high school and working my way into salaried management while still only 18 years old. I learned all aspects of that business, from front of house, to back of house, managing, and culminating in me actually owning my own restaurant for over 2 years. I transitioned into the grocery business with the same mindset. I needed/wanted to learn all areas of that business, so I spent a full year working every area of Center Store (and beyond). Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, Beer/Wine, Receiving, Night Stock, Merchandising, Cashier, Carryout--you name it-I did it. Eventually, I was promoted to be a salaried Grocery Manager. I made the move to corporate buying about 20 years ago and have worked with a variety of companies ranging from 4 stores to 161, covering formats from family owned conventional to high end natural organic to focused specialty. I've held various positions from Buyer to Vice President, and have been promoted at every company along the way, all the while building people, relationships, and brands. I've been asked...what do I want to do next? I've said I'm open to any/all conversations, but at the core, I want to do what I do best... So your store manager will yell at an employee in front of customers for accidentally cussing, but then turn around and do nothing about several other employees profane language even when asked to stop because of children's ears being present. Good job walmart. You guys are really setting an example of favoritism and how to not run a store. If you look at the turnover rate inside that one department it is astronomically high. It couldn't possibly be the employees that have allegations of harrassment, stalking, discrimination, or defamation of character nooooo. Those are model employees. Those specific employees can do no wrong. Can work as many hours as they want when nobody else can. Show up and clock in whenever they want even though they are associates and not managers. Those associates discriminate, harrass and bully anyone that doesn't worship them. When you try and reach out to upper management about it you just keep getting redirected. Nobody wants to do anything. Every single one of them is complacent in their jobs.
