The community screening and counseling is linked to the two main long-term medical and psycho-social care programs, for people living with chronic hepatitis and for people living with HIV/AIDS. The immediate linkage to care leads to mitigating the treatment costs, limitation of transmission and the improvement of community health. On this World AIDS Day, we want to bring attention to the deeply interconnected issue of HIV/AIDS and trafficking. As an organization dedicated to combating trafficking, we understand the profound impact this problem has on the lives of vulnerable individuals. Trafficking not only subjects its victims to unimaginable exploitation and abuse but also exposes them to increased risks, including the transmission of HIV/AIDS. This creates a heartbreaking cycle of suffering, as survivors not only grapple with the physical and emotional scars of trafficking but also face the long-term health consequences of HIV/AIDS. Today, we stand alongside survivors, advocating for their rights to comprehensive support and access to healthcare services. We believe that addressing the connection between trafficking and HIV/AIDS is important in breaking the chains of exploitation and empowering survivors to rebuild their lives. Raising awareness about HIV and debunking harmful misconceptions is crucial to combat GBV and sexual violence within communities. The belief that raping a virgin child can cure HIV is not only false but also extremely dangerous. It's alarming that such beliefs still persist in some communities even in 2023/2024. We must do more to educate and empower communities to understand the realities of HIV transmission and prevention. Let's work together to promote accurate information and put an end to harmful practices that perpetuate violence and discrimination!

Challenges such as funding shortages, capacity challenges, and crackdowns on civil society and on the human rights of marginalized communities obstruct the progress of HIV prevention and treatment services. Allied Services recommits to the vision of an HIV-responsive community by making it possible for millions of people and organizations to transport aid swiftly and efficiently to those in need. World AIDS Day falls right in the heart of the #16DaysofActivism, highlighting a critical connection: Gender-Based Violence (GBV) significantly impacts the prevalence of HIV. GBV increases vulnerability to HIV by limiting individuals' ability to negotiate safe sex, access prevention measures, and seek care. Stigma further intensifies the challenges faced in combating HIV and GBV. Stigma often prevents individuals from seeking testing, treatment, and support, perpetuating the cycle of silence and vulnerability. This year's theme, "Letting communities lead," represents more than just words. It recognizes the instrumental role of communities in the relentless fight against stigma, violence, and HIV. Communities are the vanguards of change, driving initiatives, spreading awareness, and providing crucial support. Together, we can dismantle barriers, promote awareness, and create a future free from stigma, violence, and HIV. #16DaysofActivism

Today marks National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a moment to shine a spotlight on the impact of HIV on women and girls. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), women made up 19% of the estimated 37,968 new HIV diagnoses in the United States and dependent areas in 2018. African American and Hispanic/Latina women are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS. In 2018, African American women accounted for 58% of new HIV diagnoses among women, while Hispanic/Latina women accounted for 19% of new diagnoses. By reducing HIV stigma and promoting testing, prevention, and treatment for women, we can #StopHIVTogether. #Elmcor #NWGHAAD

Since the first World AIDS Day in 1988, we have made significant progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Thanks to effective treatment, people living with HIV can now live long and healthy lives. 7 August 2024 UN Agencies Call for Urgent Action to Strengthen HIV Services and End AIDS by 2030   SDG 3   Source: UNAIDS Thailand/Cedriann Mart The Global Alliance, launched by WHO, UNICEF, and UNAIDS in 2022, includes 12 African countries and has made significant progress in reducing HIV infections among children. The new report, "Transforming Vision Into Reality," highlights the prevention of four million infections among children since 2000 and high antiretroviral therapy coverage among HIV-positive pregnant and breastfeeding women, with Uganda nearing 100%. However, in 2023, 120,000 children aged 0-14 were infected, with 77,000 cases in Global Alliance countries, which also recorded 49,000 of 76,000 global AIDS-related deaths in this age group.
