Rural communities in countries like Rwanda often experience outsized adverse effects due to a lack of basic infrastructure, which creates a deep divide between the country’s people, goods, and essential services. With a shared belief in bettering lives in rural communities worldwide, the Sidara companies, including Dar, TYLin, and Introba, teamed up with Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) for a collaborative construction project in Rwanda to build the Muregeya Trail Bridge—a 100-meter hybrid suspension bridge over the Muregeya River in Karongi. The Muregeya River is well-known for flooding and has slowed the development of the people of Rubengera. Crossing the river during monsoon periods becomes dangerous, and children can't go to school, businesses are disrupted, and health centers become inaccessible. For the 2,500 people relying on this bridge, safe and reliable access to essential services becomes a matter of life. Our in-house team of 10 outstanding volunteer specialists, selected from over 100 applicants from Dar, TYLin, and Introba, brought their architecture, structural engineering, and construction safety expertise to this project. The Muregeya Trail Bridge shows just how much collaboration and corporate social responsibility can do to plant a seed for positive change. With this journey, they take along all the hopes and dreams of an entire community, ready to turn isolation into connectivity and challenges into possibilities. Bravo Ghos, for the noble initiative. Building bridges instead of entrenchments.
