For the Kustermannpark in Munich, CSMM-architecture matters has developed an innovative hybrid concept of gastronomy, foyer and co-working, and implemented it in a user-oriented manner on an area of around 80,000 square metres. The entrance foyer and the former canteen were redesigned into a gastronomic experience that now forms the heart of the building, combining co-working, gastronomy and workspaces in one place. The new catering area serves as a multifunctional meeting and conference room for various user groups. The relocation of the large canteen to the ground floor creates a 1,300 square metre open space on the upper floor with new leasing potential. An open gallery and wide wooden staircase in the foyer encourage communication, while a barista bar connects the catering area. The new catering concept offers 177 seats and a variety of space and décor scenarios. With this project, CSMM demonstrates how extensive building structures can be adapted to today's needs without the need for new construction. The German-based property company KGAL is repositioning its property Charles Square Center. In fact, that's a name you'll stop hearing. Along with new tenants, a new facade, interior lighting and design features, the building will now be called Karlák Shopping Square. Even the logos for the property and its tenants have been transformed. The goal, says Anna Pospíchalová (CBRE Czech Republic) is render its visual appearance both more cultivated and unified -- and to support the visibility of its entrances (esp. the retail). The sole use of cubicles in the design of commercial spaces is phasing out. Instead, there has been an increase in open-plan office layouts. Palazzo Mondadori in Milan, built between 1968 and 1975, is a prime example of Niemeyer’s signature style. Recently renovated by Carlo Ratti Associati, the focus of the renovation was on the 20,000 square meters of office space. The main structure is a distinctive suspended glass box supported by parabolic arches, giving the impression of floating above an artificial lake designed by landscape architect Pietro Porcinai. The redesigned interior includes desks that encourage informal interaction across all five floors. New transparent meeting rooms create a sense of continuity, allowing for free movement and connection with the natural surroundings.
