As we bid farewell to another year, it's only fitting to take a moment to reflect on the experiences, challenges, and growth we've encountered together over the past 12 months. The journey has been filled with ups and downs, but through it all, we've emerged stronger, more resilient, and tightly knit as a team. One of the defining aspects of this year has been our collective ability to adapt to change. Whether it was navigating the ongoing global circumstances, adjusting to new work structures, or taking on unfamiliar projects, each member of our team has demonstrated remarkable flexibility and perseverance. Our commitment to overcoming challenges has not only kept our operations running smoothly but has also positioned us for future success. In addition to facing external challenges, our team has excelled in fostering a positive and collaborative work culture. The support and camaraderie we've shared have been truly inspiring. It's the unwavering dedication and teamwork of each individual that have made our workplace a vibrant and fulfilling environment. Reflecting on the past year, it's important to acknowledge the individual achievements that have contributed to our collective success. From steering ambitious projects to learning new skills, each person's efforts have played a crucial role in shaping our accomplishments. Let's celebrate these victories, big and small, and use them as stepping stones for an even more remarkable year ahead. As we step into the new year, let's carry forward the lessons learned, the bonds strengthened, and the resilience that defines our team. Together, we can continue to tackle challenges head-on, embrace opportunities for growth, and make a workplace that inspires innovation and collaboration. Wishing you all a Happy New Year and looking forward to an exciting and prosperous year ahead.

B-Corp month has arrived! Why consider B-Corp? - Because you care about your people - Because you care about the long term sustainability of your business - Because business is agile and should be a force for good right now rather than waiting in the side lines and being told what to do when it's too late. We started our B-Corp Journey in 2019 at Ridgeview Wine Estate when I spent a little time quietly completing the self-assessment questionnaire as I was curious to see what it involved and how we scored. It really opened my eyes and made me realise just how much more we could (and should) be doing and also how it reflected the values of the business. In 2020 as we went into lock down I approached the family, board and SLT about the using this opportunity to focus on the B-Corp accreditation and with their full support we obtained our accreditation in 2022. Everyone in the business was involved in achieving this. It's not the only sustainability accreditation out there but in my opinion it's the most comprehensive, covering all aspects of the business and understanding of the careful balance of being commercially sustainable whilst pushing the boundaries for safeguarding the environment, your community, your people alongside best practice for governance. It also takes into account other accreditations you may have that are particular to your industry, for example, we are accredited under the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain scheme for both our winery and vineyard. There's no cost in completing the self-assessment so why not give it a go?

From the day I founded Paradox, I knew I wanted it to be a B Corp. To me, making decisions in the long-term interests of stakeholders - including our clients, our people, our environment, and our community - is just good business. In my experience, many business leaders care about their impact. Our B Corp certification helps hold us accountable to these ideals, as we continue to learn and grow. Happy B Corp month to all the businesses measuring their impact and striving for continuous improvement. It’s better to wrestle with solutions to tough questions than to not ask them. #BCorpMonth #ContinuousImprovement #MeasureWhatMatters #PurposeAndProfit

We’re proudly celebrating our second #BCorpMonth 🎉 And this year’s theme, #ThisWayForward, is something that resonates with us ➡️ Like many B Corps, we’re constantly on the move – and we’ve been busy growing, listening and responding to the ever-changing world around us. Becoming a B Corp brought us into a like-minded community that believes business can – and should – be a force for good. And to do that, we need to make sure that we’re always taking steps forward. “I’m pleased to see we’ve consciously moved forward again. Adding new benefits for our team, improving training and development opportunities, and a constant radar on employee salaries amid the cost of living crisis. We know there is more to be done – and the world needs action on so many levels. So, we’ll continue looking for ways to work for positive change in all areas of our business.” – Siobhan Johnson, Managing Director. B Corp Month has begun! This year’s campaign theme, This Way Forward, really spoke to me (h/t to the team at Nice and Serious for their work on concept). When I speak to B Corp leaders the conversation always goes to improvement - the ways in which they are reducing carbon in their supply chain, the policies they’re implementing for staff, the tiny tweaks they’ve made to product, packaging and service in order to be ‘be more B Corp’, and the agency that being a B Corp gives staff, customers and the media to demand more from them. And at the same time, I always learn something about the complexity of improvement - the tradeoffs, the unintended consequences, the juggle of balancing the interests of many stakeholders. This Way Forward is a reminder that progress is hard and often involves sitting in an uncomfortable space of honesty and imperfection - and yet we shouldn’t let that stop us continuously moving in the right direction. So what am I excited about this year? 🅱️+ 🅱️ this year will see more collaborations from B Corps than ever as our community grows. 🎨- more visual storytelling than ever, encouraging self expression and self reflection on what progress is. 🍻- as always, I’m excited about getting out and spending some time with lots of B Corps and like-minded people. 😲- unexpected surprises. I've already been delighted by a certain B Corp song from Andy Hawkins. B Corp Month is always a very special moment collaboration across the network so as the month opens I tip my hat to Charlotte Levitt and in the B Lab UK team mates Joanna Adjetey De Palma and Megan Dacey in particular for getting us over the line this year.

Late last month, our staff values awards were handed out to a worthy bunch of recipients. Each quarter, employees who embody our values – Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence and Responsibility – in their everyday working lives are nominated by their peers for a Staff Reward. One of those worthy recipients was ICT Administrator Danny Yeomans, who received our Responsibility Award. Known for his exceptional problem-solving skills, Danny was nominated for a staff reward for ‘the level of responsibility and ownership to everything in his sphere at TAFE’ and ‘his willingness to step up in challenging situations and ability to navigate them with a positive demeanour'. So, what does a typical day for Danny at TAFE Gippsland look like? “A typical day at work starts with a cup of coffee!” Danny said. “After that, it can vary widely. Some days, I jump right into troubleshooting an overnight system failure or addressing urgent IT issues that have arisen overnight. Other times, I spend the day assisting colleagues with their needs and issues or collaborating with my team on projects. No two days are ever the same, which keeps things interesting and dynamic!” Danny’s ability to shine when disaster strikes and use his own expertise to diagnose and resolve the issue with minimal impact to business makes him a true asset to TAFE Gippsland. So, what’s been Danny’s proudest moment or greatest win at work? “I've experienced many successes in my job, but I can’t claim them as mine alone,” he said. “I’m lucky to work with an amazing team of colleagues who bring so much knowledge and insight to the IT department. Our collective efforts are what make these wins possible.” And best piece of advice? “Yes, the classic ‘just turn if off and on again’ trick really does fix things more often than you’d think!” #staffrewards #organisationalvalues #ICT #whenindoubtreboot #workattafe
