Game-changing news in rare cancer research! 🔬 Researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer have achieved a groundbreaking milestone in understanding rare cancers. They've developed "mini-tumours," a revolutionary tool that mirrors the complexity of rare cancers in a controlled environment. This innovation offers a new window into cancer progression and opens up possibilities for designing more effective clinical interventions. Why is this important? These mini-tumours preserve the unique characteristics of the original tumors, allowing researchers to study them in unprecedented detail. This means a better understanding of how rare cancers evolve and respond to treatments, bringing us closer to personalized medicine for those facing these challenging diagnoses. Your ongoing support and interest are what drive these scientific breakthroughs! Together, let's continue to make strides in rare cancer research and care. 🌟 Read more about this incredible advancement here: https://lnkd.in/gd63a_Wb #RareCancerResearch #Innovation #MiniTumours #JediRareCancerFoundation #RaiseAwareness #MakingADifference #DonateToday #FightAgainstRareCancers #RareCancerIsntRare

Today is World Cancer Research Day. Did you know blood cancers make up the fourth largest group of diagnosed cancers in Australia (19,400 a year), and that number continues to rise? World Cancer Research Day is vital to raise awareness of how important research is to making a difference for patients and facilitating equitable access to cutting-edge treatments for blood cancer patients globally. ALLG is at the forefront of innovation and continues investigating new trial concepts, collaborating with leading international cancer research groups to change how blood cancer is treated and providing significant opportunities for patients to access advanced innovative therapies. CD4+T cells: A potential game #changer for reshaping #cancer therapy Cancer #immunology and #immunotherapy play pivotal roles in the realm of oncology research and advancement, with a primary focus on CD8+ T cells and the #microenvironment of tumors. Recent #advancements underscore the significance of CD4+ T cells, affirming the well-established notion that these cells are key participants and #regulators of both #innate and antigen-specific immune #reactions. Furthermore, they are now acknowledged as effectual agents against tumors in their own capacity. Within this scholarly article, Dr. Daniel E. Speiser, Christian Münz, and their research team from the University of Lausanne and the University of Zurich vividly portray the present state of CD4+ T cells in cancer, offering substantial #potential for #enhancing the understanding and #treatment of cancer. Congratulations to Rong Fan, PhD; Mina Xu, MD; Stephanie Halene, MD, Dr Med; and Zongming Ma, PhD; who received a U01 award from The National Institutes of Health to establish the Center for Human Lymphoma Spatiotemporal Atlas (HuLymSTA). With this award, they will construct an atlas (or a map) of human lymphomas in transformation from indolent (slow growing) to aggressive cancer. The Human Tumor Atlas Network is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-funded Cancer Moonshot initiative to construct 3-dimensional atlases of the dynamic cellular, morphological, and molecular features of human cancers as they evolve from precancerous lesions to advanced disease. https://lnkd.in/eHvrfP_C

📣📗 Announcing Direct to CANCER: Offering expedited review for potentially practice-changing manuscripts Direct to CANCER is a new manuscript-submission pathway that will offer an accelerated review process for potentially practice-changing/informing manuscripts that have been rejected after peer review by high-impact general medicine or oncology journals for reasons of scope or priority. CANCER is specifically seeking submissions in which the authors are confident that they can fully address the concerns identified by the previous peer reviewers. Read an introductory editorial about Direct to CANCER authored by our Editor-in-Chief Suresh S. March is #ColonCancerAwarenessMonth. Colorectal cancer still accounts for around 12% of all cancer deaths in Europe, the second highest after lung cancer. At SAGITTARIUS, we're proud to contribute to enhancing post-surgical care with liquid biopsy. The results of SAGITTARIUS could be completely practice-changing, and life-changing for many patients with colon cancer. It is hoped that this approach will ensure that patients: - Receive the right treatment at the right time, - Avoid unnecessary treatments and side effects, - Experience improves post-surgical care and outcomes for patients. The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center is taking on lung cancer from every angle. The Tom and Julie Wood Center for Lung Cancer Research was established in March 2024 with a $20 million gift from Julie Wood. The gift honors her late husband, Tom Wood, the well-known Indianapolis auto executive who died of lung cancer in 2010. The newly established center will expand efforts in basic science research to understand the complexities of lung cancer at a cellular level, guide the development of innovative lung cancer drugs, support early-phase clinical trials for IU-developed treatments, and expand the lung cancer precision genomics program.
