For me, the best innovation comes in the best environments. Entopia strikes again with award winning sustainability credentials dovetailing perfectly with CISL’s Living Lab concept whereby the built environment industry can come together with academics and innovators to try and solve some of the challenges we face. How are we going to decarbonise the UK’s built environment? How are we going to move to a circular economy? How are we going to ensure a just transition? I have no doubt that steps towards achieving these goals will emerge from those that collaborate and innovate within the space provided at Entopia. #SpacetoInnovate #Innovation #Collaboration

THE BIG FEST HAS COME! Finally, the last module, the on-campus gathering of our IMD’s Leading Sustainable Business Transformation program (#LSBT) has come! I am so excited to see the professors, the coaches and all my classmates - who come from America, Africa, Middle East, European countries and different parts of Switzerland, in a few hours at the IMD’s headquarter #LausanneCampus. Over the last 7 weeks, we have learned together through live-virtual classes, video conferences, group coaching and one-to-one coaching sessions, WhatsApp group chats, LinkedIn Connect and Messaging, and private calls. From all parts of the world and working in different industries, we might never know each other. But the #LSBT has united us, from a distance. We have known each other quite a bit and helped each other whenever there is a request or question, about anything. We have since found friendship and bonding, from a distance! And now, the special moment has come! We’re gonna see us physically. I guess many of us will hug each other at the very first second, without hesitation 🤗 Here in Lausanne, during the next 4 days, we will consolidate what we have learnt from the previous modules which have equipped us with a broad view of the world sustainability landscape, understanding of ESG and sustainability best practices, the tools and strategic frameworks to embed sustainability throughout an organization in different industries, as well as the leadership communication models. The on-campus module is also expected to drive us further with connected dots, organizational designs, alliance and partnership building that could enable us to lead our own sustainable business goals and collective actions when we leave Lausanne. We had the incredible opportunity to attend New Zealand’s first-ever Blue Economy Innovation Summit, hosted by Moananui and the Nelson Regional Development Agency (Nelson Tasman) in the beautiful city of Nelson. With 175 attendees and over 30 presenters, the event was nothing short of inspiring. The summit brought together leaders from blue economy businesses, innovators, universities, and funders. Each talk provided deep insights and showcased what New Zealand's blue economy offers. It was thrilling to see such a vibrant exchange of ideas and opportunities for strategic alliances, all aimed at fostering a thriving blue economy. Nelson Tasman, home to over 400 blue economy businesses, was the perfect backdrop for this pioneering event. Connecting with like-minded individuals from different regions was fantastic; all were committed to sustainable ocean-related development. Reflecting on the summit, we're reminded of a quote from Dave Chappel about Kanye West: "I'm dope and I do dope shit." This summit felt exactly like that—doing impactful work with dope people. It's a reminder of how creativity and bold thinking can lead to meaningful changes. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the summit a success. The conversations started here are just the beginning. Let’s continue to drive innovation and champion sustainability in our oceans. The journey has only just begun! 💙 #BlueEconomy #Innovation #Sustainability #NelsonNZ #NewZealand #KanyeWest https://lnkd.in/gmu8PdaX

Director, Beyond Lab @ United Nations Geneva | Cares about Social Innovation for Long-term Sustainability, Intergenerational Impact, Reimagining Systems & Regenerative Futures, Forward-looking & Inclusive Multilateralism
It's been an encouraging experience to be part of the first Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC), an initiative launched by the Government of Germany via the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) , the City of Hamburg, UNDP and the Michael Otto Foundation to co-create and shape the future of #sustainable #development. It's time to move beyond commitments and focus on solutions that translate vision into action - a key principle of the HSC. With its mission to promote #multi-stakeholder engagement and drive #systemic #change for the #SDGs and long-term sustainability, The Beyond Lab at UN Geneva is deeply committed and engaged in doing its part to make this shift happen. How? By continuing advancing three inter-connected topics highlighted at the HSC: 🌍 Fostering intergenerational impact & accountability for long-term sustainability; 🌎 Rethinking economic and financial systems to be in balance with human and planetary well-being; 🌏 A promoting a systems-approach when shaping the future of sustainable development. Because every choice we make today is either an investment in or a detriment to the world that tomorrow’s generations will inherit. To read more about our take-aways from the conference, and why it's a space to watch in the years to come, read here 👇 https://lnkd.in/efRzkbhh
🌍 The Time to Act is Now🌍 Every choice we make today is either an investment in or a detriment to the world that tomorrow’s generations will inherit. This awareness underpinned the Beyond Lab’s approach at the inaugural Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) The inaugural HSC brought together over 1,600 participants from 100+ countries, underscoring the urgency of bold, decisive action toward long-term sustainability. 🌱 Leaders from across sectors—government, business, academia, and civil society—came together to rethink what progress means in light of achieving the 2030 Agenda. At the Beyond Lab, the critical themes discussed at the HSC are close to our hearts: intergenerational equity, rethinking economic systems, and shaping the future of sustainable development. 💡 Key takeaways: - The appointment of a UN Special Envoy for Future Generations marks a transformative step toward ensuring policies benefit both present and future generations. - The Futures Balance (https://lnkd.in/en8EP6S3), currently developed by the Beyond Lab with the TASC Platform , provides a groundbreaking framework for policymakers to assess the long-term impact and spillover effects of decisions and investments. - Economic systems need to be redesigned. Through our Youth Moving Beyond GDP initiative (https://lnkd.in/eueUUwQJ) —developed in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and Rethinking Economics—we are amplifying youth voices and breaking the intergenerational ‘glass ceiling’ in economic decision-making. - Ancestral knowledge and wisdom are key to aligning governance and economic systems with the planet’s needs, reminding us of the importance of learning from the past to shape a better future. This is something our Hope projects knows all too well. The Beyond Lab remains at the forefront of driving systemic change and will continue to lead initiatives that align global action with long-term sustainability. Join us as we work toward co-creating sustainable futures, and we look forward to the next HSC in June 2025, where these vital conversations will continue. Electrifying discussions and multidimensional perspectives on deepening sustainability assessment with UNRISD@Concordia University and Karl Polanyi Institut, Montreal. I felt electrified in a room with so much know-how and experience in #sustainabilityreporting, #impactmeasurement and #contextualization. The Workshop on Deepening Sustainability Assessment Initiatives: Exploring ways enhance sustainability measurement and reporting methods organized by UNRISD in collaboration with LKS CORP S.A. - GRUPO MONDRAGON and The Predistribution Initiative, felt like an extension of discussion that are already going on about SDPI. And we in Germany have a lot of fruitful discussions about SDPI with Franziska Weeger, Susanne Knappstein, Henrik Basche, Oliver Becker, Delphine Teske, Sabine Müller and many more. What a coincidence having the UNRISD Workshop on such a remarkable place, especially when we are thinking about re-embedding economy in society and nature, when referring to Karl Polanyi and the great transformation. What do you think Yvonne Zwick? The perspective of seeing the economy as a social contract, what doesn’t fulfill its promises with the result what leads us to a collision course with this planet - lead me to deep reflection. Could the Multi Capital Model be an approach that brings us closer to a #regenerativefuture? What if we think about a metaverse culture where putting authentic sustainable measurement in the heart of global #zeitgeist? What is material in this context and how to define materiality, while having in mind materiality is dynamic and social constructed? When do we integrate thresholds and allocation into common used materiality and create the perspective of triple materality? It is on us to do that, everyone who is reporting about sustainability has it in their own hands to make the choice to look and report through the lens of triple materiality. #authenticsustainability #regenerativefuture #regeneration #sustainablecompanies #sustainableorganizations #sustainablefuture #triplemateraility #sustainabilityreporting #multicapitalmodel Goran Jeras Ibon Zugasti Katharina Herzog Tatiana Glad
