At the #FlyAI Forum 2024 the session on #ArtificialIntelligence regulation and standardisation saw the European Commission, EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency, Daedalean AI, CEN and CENELEC and EUROCAE share their point of view on the regulatory framework and latest standardisation activities. 💻 Antoine Alexandre André from the European Commission's presented the EU's AI Act explaining that regulating AI-based systems is set to follow a risk-based approach categorizing the systems according to different risk levels based on their potential impact on humans, society, and fundamental rights. These risk levels help determine the extent of regulatory requirements and oversight that the companies developing and using AI technology must adhere to. High risk use cases can be biometrics, critical infrastructure, employment, border management and more. Aviation will need to comply with certain provisions applicable to high-risk AI systems – especially if they are intended to be used as a safety component of a product. ✈ Francois Triboulet from EASA shared an update on the EASA AI Roadmap 2.0, the EASA rulemaking plan on AI and their ongoing work on the EASA AI Concept Paper Issues in close collaboration with all stakeholders. Francois used the opportunity to inform the audience about the upcoming EASA AI Days High-Level Conference from 2-3 July 2024. 🔍 Hugo Silva from Daedalean shared use cases for the company's technology (such as Piloteye) to explain the various steps required for the certification of an AI-based aircraft equipment. 🔔 Patrick Bezombes from CEN/CENELEC and Anna Guégan from EUROCAE provided an update on the latest AI standardisation activities for aviation. 🎤 The session was moderated by Guillaume Soudain.
