Grateful for this nonstop, rewarding, incredible journey with my Francesca's team—it's more than just colleagues or a team; we it's family. Amidst heartfelt moments this week, team members shared newfound career aspirations in retail, a testament to the unique space we've cultivated. Their desire to GROW with me and our beloved company after working here for nearly a decade is so fulfilling. I love that they love what they do, just like me. 🎊 One Year Anniversary at Morrison: Time flies when you’re scaling operations and slaying deadlines. Reflecting on my first year at MORRISON has been a wild ride of personal growth, teamwork, and just a little bit of imposter syndrome (let’s be honest—sometimes A LOT). From my first solo client call to submitting DOE proposals, I've learned what it means to grow, adapt, and excel under pressure. Taking on new challenges, learning from my incredible team, and asking, “How can this be better?” has defined my journey. (Cue the eye-rolls from the team 😅). Turns out, my Working Genius of Wonder and Discernment was spot-on: an innate drive to improve, streamline, and find the right solutions to move projects forward. 🚀 Highlights of My Year: 🎯 Secured $23MM in grants with an 81% success rate—what a journey! 🤝 Supported my teammates through tight deadlines, crazy schedules, and some intense team bonding experiences. 💡 Launched new processes and updated internal systems, all while navigating the steep learning curve of grant writing. 📝 Conquered major grants like ERME, DOE, and VAPG, sometimes even while balancing personal milestones (like getting married and buying a house!). 🤝 Embraced our culture of support, encouragement, and humility. I’m so grateful to my team for inspiring continuous improvement, creativity, and always bringing their A-game. Together, we've faced challenges, shared many laughs (and maybe a few tears), and transformed ideas into reality. Tis the season to celebrate! Often at this time of year, we are looking forward to switching off, recharge the batteries and have time off with family. It is also the perfect opportunity for reflection. Celebrate your work wins, your own and that of your team. That stuff shouldn’t just be reserved for local business awards! It’s too easy to get caught up in the daily grind or the big project, moving from task deadline and planning review meeting to the next. If you’re a team leader, now is the perfect time to reflect on team achievements as a group, and actively engage the team on what can be put in place to ensure future success. Consistent small wins move the needle. One tool I used during project review meetings was to zoom out of the project, look at the overall progress and not just the stage objectives. In this way the whole team can see the progress, and take shared ownership for completion. Active communication and engagement are crucial to building cohesive teams. How do you commit to celebrating yourself and staff? It’s not about the pizza Friday’s, or waiting for the xmas party or summer bbq. Those things are great but building a belonging, an aligned vision and active engagement so that the team knows you’re not just in boat, but you’re all pulling in same direction.
