🧬 #SynBio as the Future of Climate Solutions: E44 recognizes SynBio as an emerging, promising ally offering innovative solutions that harmonize technology and nature. Today we attended the 2nd Annual SynBio Meeting in Israel where our senior associate Sagi Sheinkman explored academic breakthroughs that have the potential to harness nature’s power to promote a cleaner, greener future. #SyntheticBiology, often referred to as “SynBio”, is reshaping our approach to #climatechallenges. Designing organisms to perform specific tasks gives SynBio the potential to revolutionize different industries, from #energy to #agriculture. New biological capabilities could bring about transformational change in economies, societies, and our everyday lives. 🕷️🐝 Materials: Biological means could be used to produce or decompose much of the global economy’s physical materials (e.g., spider silk production, plastic recycling, and carbon sequestration), potentially leading to improved performance and sustainable practices. 🦠 Precision: Industries could have increased control and precision in methodology across the value chain, from delivery to development and consumption. 🪰 Sensing: Biological sensors can be utilized for enhanced sensitivity, durability, and perform as MRV’s. 🧫 Energy: Applications in energy and materials using synthetic materials produced by microbe factories can decrease the carbon footprint of the energy industry. Our commitment to the environment and #netzerocarbon emissions remain unwavering, and we are looking forward to the next big synbio-based #climatetech scalable breakthrough to see what the future will bring.

🔅 #BioBio2024 Conference was successfully concluded! 🍃 The conference, organised between 16-20 June 2024, in Prague, was a huge success, and it was genuinely motivating to see diverse insights from all EU Bioremediation Cluster projects. We want to thank Dr. Akanksha Mishra and Dr. Rocío Barros, for representing BIOSYSMO Project and showcasing our project’s capabilities. MIBIREM, SYMBIOREM Project, Nymphe, ISLANDR Horizon EU and EDAPHOS were also there to present their progress, making it an inspiring and colorful workshop. Some key points include: 📌 The importance of the cluster success stories was emphasided to build public trust in research and biotechnology. 📌 The necessity of a holistic approach that goes beyond bioremediation was highlighted, aiming to address overall soil health, stressing that soil and water are the foundations of our lives. 📌 The discussion pointed out the gap between biotechnology and its implementation, underscoring the need for greater industry and intermediary producer involvement to ensure that society benefits from scientific advancements. ⬇️ Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/dU6c4GF5 Watch peak moments from the workshop here #HorizonEU #Cluster #Bioremediation IDENER.AI / Universidad de Burgos / Jozef Stefan Institute / Leitat Technological Center / UBFC - Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté / Blue Synergy SL / CIIMAR / Universidad Politécnica de Madrid / AXIA Innovation GmbH / Centre national de la recherche scientifique / TAUW Group / EXELISIS IKE / Imperial College London

Excited to announce my participation at SynBioBeta 2024! I invite you to join us on May 7, from 2:45 to 3:30 pm for a pivotal discussion titled "Can Synthetic Biology Heal Exponential Climate Change?" I've been deeply involved in shaping the trajectory of innovative companies in venture capital that spans over three decades, investing in early-stage companies focused on resource-scarce and climate-sensitive markets. It’s clearer than ever that our environment is exponentially tumbling towards collapse. As synbio begins to impact industrial sectors from food to chemicals and materials, we have the potential to slow climate change while building more resilient economies for generations to come. Achieving a robust and sustainable bioeconomy is no mean feat. Companies need to balance their budget, mission, runway, and market all while competing against entrenched practices replete with carbon emissions. How can we ensure synbio products are commercialized in time to have an impact on our future? What do leaders need to consider as they plan their next 10 years, and what will it take to create billion-dollar synbio companies that disrupt unsustainable incumbents? Alongside esteemed experts Charlie Dimmler, Josh Silverman, and August Fern, we will delve into the revolutionary role synthetic biology can play in addressing climate change. Our panel will explore cutting-edge innovations that harness synthetic biology to develop sustainable solutions for the environmental challenges facing our planet. Discover how advancements in this dynamic field can contribute to ecological conservation, reduce carbon footprints, and potentially reverse some of the impacts of climate change. We’ll share insights into current projects and the future potential of synthetic biology in creating a sustainable world. Whether you're a scientist, entrepreneur, environmental advocate, or curious thinker, this discussion is designed to inspire and ignite a conversation about the intersection of technology and environmental health. Join us for a session full of transformative ideas and collaborative possibilities. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see how we can work together to harness the power of synthetic biology for the greater good of our planet. See you at SynBioBeta 2024! https://lnkd.in/gsHRCQdC #SynBioBeta2024 #ClimateChange #SyntheticBiology #Sustainability #Innovation
